Finished a few nights off with this over the years.

If you don't know it don't be put off by the fact that it's R Kelly & do yourself a favour & give it the full 4 1/2 minutes.

I've always thought "Happy People" by him was an excellent stepper and would make a nice end to a night.

When anyone puts a 'Link' on can they also put the record name as I cannot see them at Work and would love to see the selection. Just see an error message then everyone saying ' Great Choice !!' etc. Give us a clue !!

Agreed,

Sat here most of the time, giving it :g:

Couple of seconds extra typing for us "restricted" please

What, you don't like people dancing all, over emotional and 'urnest' at the end of a night?! .....Your heart must be a 'swinging brick' Terry :D

Mind you, have to admit when Danny finished Burnley on 'Judy Freeman and Black Rock - Hold On' it did finish on a high, although by that point I was a 'Husk' :D

All the best,

Thats the trouble Len....folk just can,t help emselves they're drawn to dreary music as if the drearier it is the more soulful, therefore they're bigger soolies because of it.....thats cause most of em are looking to go home as soon as they get there.....just like me old mum at the RAILWAY CLUB bingo/dance nights back in the day.....by the way judy freeman is proper down and dirty atb sleepyhead

Len

We used to finish the west end Coalville off with the Drifter (me, Don Charles or Ray Pollard, or Bob with Ray or long john baldry)

At Pure soul Nuneaton, if i'm on last i finish anything (normally too pissed to know) however Lynn tells me i finished once with George Freeman - Down & out, & another time it was another of her favs Hattie Winston - pass me by

If Shawry is on last, he normally bangs an up-tempo tune on

The Dome in London used to finish with Jimmy Ricks “Oh! What a Feeling” which always sounded good. Wasn’t the most used ender at These Old Shoes Jimmy Ruffin’s “Everyone Needs Love”?

I Go To Pieces definitely was added to 3 before 8...

Enders; mmmmmmmmmm....how about these?

Ray Pollard - The Drifter

Marva Josie - Don't

Tony Michaels - I Love The Life I Live (St.Ives circa 1977)

Judy Freeman & Blackrock - Hold On

Marketts - Bella Delana (For the non-lyrical types)

Talking of the 3 before 8...IMHO; although atmospheric as one of the three, I missed hearing Tobi Legend played during the night

I don't DJ but I always liked to hear this record closing the After Dark Winter Garden All Niters - Rick Dalton I think. It's a great track full stop.

It's All Over - Charles Mann

always wondered when this subject would come up.

The 3 before 8 thing was in early wigan days but did it not become the 5?

Brenda Holloway when im gone?

Barbara Mcneir Youre gonna love my baby?

anyone confirm?

My fuzzy memory's telling me it was The Carstairs - It Really Hurts Me followed by Gerri Granger - I Go To Pieces then the 3 befoe 8? Can't remember when this trend started though.

ESTER PHILLIPS " JUST SAY GOODBYE"

Excellent choice!

That Big Maybelle record is probably the most emotional vocal I've ever heard, almost makes me cry towards the end when her voice nearly breaks, talk about singing it from the heart..

Me too, wasn't the song about her dying or dead son?

Not a soul record but, to a mixed crowd, you cant beat Fleetwood Mac ' The Chain'.

I ended the night with it on Saturday and when the bassline comes in,ie the Grand Prix theme tune, the place went ballistic.

Approx 200 people singing 'Da da da da dada dada da da'.
