Northern Soul Uk Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) Just got this off the bay for £6.24p :-) very pleased! Includes the brilliant 'Your love can save me' Edited October 12, 2012 by Steve Luigi 3
boba Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I got mine mint from a dollar bin 15 years ago. I always play "you're the one for me bobby" on my birthday even though I know it's about Bobby Rogers. 1

I always play "you're the one for me bobby" on my birthday even though I know it's about Bobby Rogers. Got it for the 'Your love can save me' track. Thought this was the only way to get it, but I saw on a write up yesterday that is was promo'd on a 'Tamla' 4 track EP too. Never seen one and apparently very scarce. Here's a video with the EP in question. Anyone ever seen one? Edited October 12, 2012 by Steve Luigi 1
Mick Holdsworth Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 No, not seen that. From the YouTube picture It looks like a later press, 70's or even later - Might have been a sampler for a "Best Of" type LP. Was it on a later LP than Sophisticated Soul?
Chalky Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I've never seen that either Mick, not listed on Don't Forget The Motor City or any other list I can view right now. Mick Holdsworth Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Where was the write up? It's on the YouTube page .... www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2UHmlkPAEk ... Just uploaders comments really. The video does show a bit more detail of the label, although you may go blind if you try to read the track listing. Cant see a list number there, but it's so bluury, i could be wrong. Cheers Mick

Mick, its a 60s vinyl press, to promote the album, it has to be one of the rarest Motown related 45s regards Paul 6

Jim G Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Mick, its a 60s vinyl press, to promote the album, it has to be one of the rarest Motown related 45s regards Paul that must be worth a pretty penny, never knew it existed!

I don't recall ever seeing one. The YouTube clip (I could only see the picture and not play the clip) didn't do it justice.

A Shorty Long one would be nice. Tony
Guest Andy Kempster Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Just got this off the bay for £6.24p :-) very pleased! Includes the brilliant 'Your love can save me' good stuff Steve, just sorted myself one too at a similar price, corking track, new to me
Northern Soul Uk Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 Thanks for the info lads, I'd love to see one of those EPs in the flesh, must be ultra rare.. and yes Andy, brilliant track, used to hear in the clubs in the 70s, but never had a copy. :-)

Samplat Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Got a white demo of the lp about 8 years ago without the sleeve. Bought a knacked issue Lp for a dollar and used the sleeve from that for my demo Lp 1
Guest Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 good stuff Steve, just sorted myself one too at a similar price, corking track, new to me Early Wigan classic......I have one which I got for about £6. Came from Australia and it was still in the shrink wrap! How does a Detroit album land in Australia and never even gets opened never mind played? 44 years old and it looks absolutely perfect, even the inner sleeve with all the album adverts is totally mint.
Philippe Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Mick, its a 60s vinyl press, to promote the album, it has to be one of the rarest Motown related 45s regards Paul I didn't know such EP's existed, there's one copy on popsike : https://www.popsike.com/MARVELETTES-Sophisticated-Soul-MOTOWN-45-PROMO-ONLY-EP/300440518230.html My LP is a white DJ MONO :
Northern Soul Uk Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 Can't see that EP going for the same now as one on Popsike in 2008. I reckon add at least a 1 to the front!!
Northern Soul Uk Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 Mick, its a 60s vinyl press, to promote the album, it has to be one of the rarest Motown related 45s regards Paul HOLY HELL I WANT THAT!!!
boba Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Can't see that EP going for the same now as one on Popsike in 2008. I reckon add at least a 1 to the front!! I could see it going for that. It's an under the radar item and there isn't a huge demand / rush for it. Stuff like that tends to go cheap on ebay.

I found a near mint UK copy of that album over here in Japan! Would like to see a valuation guide for UK Tamla-Motown albums...are there any on the net?

Northern Soul Uk Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 Heheh!! I'd love it, but a bit over the top on price for me.
Guest Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Heheh!! I'd love it, but a bit over the top on price for me. Ditto..............high starting price Paul, not always a good idea.
Citizen P Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I'll be checking those euro numbers Very carefully tomorrow T
Northern Soul Uk Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 Best starting at the lowest you're willing to sell for, and I know it sounds risky, but items starting at 99p invariably sell for more than items with a high start price. As they say in the auction business it's a 'come and get me'
