In It For Profit, Or Posterity?

I hope I don't get myself into trouble with Juke Box Jam, or anybody else for that matter, but you have to think twice when you might be thinking they're 're-releasing' records for profit, when it could be for posterity. Just a thought.

Jazzman records is a business Den so clearly he's trying to reissue stuff that will sell and so turn a profit.

If you interested in saving the artists work for posterity an audio file will do that.

If you're intersted in saving the record for posterity it has to be the original release surely? No point spending a load of money conserving a copy of the Laughing Cavalier is there.

I personally hate all these re-issues of records (le-git or otherwise) - they clog up ebay and I don't see the point of buying them.

I do like issues of unissued stuff though (if legit).

Someone should convince Universal to do legit issues on 7" of all the good unissued Motown.
