Guest rachel
northern in unexpected circumstances Met some mates in a gay bar in Edinburgh last night and when I walked in they were playing The Snake!! Later on was in a club with a couple of hundred youngish people mostly dressed in 40s/50s style clothes going mad to Tainted Love (yes the Gloria Jones)... bit of a surreal night actually Link to comment Social source share

Guest stash313
Dobie Gray's played every week before the second half Pete... We've been treated to Move On Up and unfortunately Do I Love You over recent times. A big improvement on the crap that's usually played there... Guest stash313
I hope there playing "Walk with a Winner" on tuesday night at Elland Rd!! BH You never know Blake, after the way we performed today it wouldn't suprise me. We're desperate for re-inforcements and had 13 fit outfield players today. Saying that I also think some of the team had their eyes on carling cup glory in another week or so Link to comment Social source share
Stuart Bower
I hope there playing "Walk with a Winner" on tuesday night at Elland Rd!! BH I fully agree. For the home team. We couldn`t play worse up front than Saturday`s fiasco against Brighton. Should be an interesting game. However, it would be more interesting to hear "Out On The Floor" sung by EDDIE Gray though. Guest ShaneH
i went in a tiny pub off oxford street, london yesterday called 'bradleys'. they have a old vinyl jukebox in there that features about 50 45s. amongst the rubbish there was 'barbara lynn - this is the thanks i get'. my other half pops into this place now and again and she told me before that they have 'brenda & the tabs - thats all in the past' on the jukebox. she wasnt far off i suppose Shane Link to comment Social source share
Pudsoul
So what will they be playing for SW on Saturday then Shane? Will it be Gene McDaniels? Or possibly NF Porter, but I guess more likely George Freeman It's going to be Barbara Mercer/Tobi Lark for the mighty whites. Link to comment Social source share

KEN (as always) right on the button- Leeds in the sixties (the REAL Leeds United imo) had what looked like an owl on their shirt badges. And they were then nicknamed "The Peacocks" Link to comment Social source share

Tomangoes
A couple of years ago whilst on a holiday flight to spain, the in flight entertainment had a soul tape option on the radio channels with at least 10 northern tracks on it. Clapping going off all over the plane. Ed Link to comment Social source share
Stuart Bower
My arse..... both LUFC originals... Nice one , nice find. The one on the left was the one I`m talking about. It really looked like it was part of the white shirt rather than a sewn on badge. The one on the right is much older. Goes back a long time. Guest in town Mikey
If this thread isnt reason enough for people to seek out new and fresh tunes I dont know what is. OK its a nice piece of light relief hearing an old Northern tune in an unlikely place, but it makes me shudder to think of nightclubs and trendy bars playing Northern Soul. I know James T disagrees with me, but to me Northern Soul means its illusive as well as all the other attributes. Making it an advert jingle, or part of the in lift entertainment is crass beyond my feeble coherence. I dont mind 'fresh' people being introduced to Northern Soul, but hearing it at the local Romeo and juliets. No thanks. just my opnion like Link to comment Social source share
