Popular Post Ady Croasdell Posted September 27, 2012 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Putting my knackers on the line here but I think I've just heard the best Northern discovery since Spencer Wiggins 'Let's Talk It Over'. If you've got tickets for the 100 Club this Saturday, you're in for a treat. I've run it by a couple of knowledgeable geezers here at Ace (Tone & Timps) and they concur. 'If I Had My Way' by Melvin Parker. It's going to give the traditional rare 60s soul stomper fraternity a big boost. I'll put 30 secs on the 6TS site next week. Ady Croasdell Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 To be fair, its a bit dozy putting this up when nobody can hear it yet. I got a bit carried away, it really is a stunner though.
Ady Croasdell Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 And you'll dig it Sean, Memphis goes to Detroit style.
Guest MrC Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 is that Maceo & the Macks Melvin Parker?

Joking of course, I'm all for the new stuff as much as the old. You knock em dead Mr Croasdell just make sure its a 45 and not a 33 rpm 12"... just to confuse things bearing in mind your age Steve H

Ady Croasdell Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 There's 30 secs of it on the site now, Melvin Parker 'If I Had My Way'. Also check out Junior Johnson The Centre Of Attraction another stunning new discovery. Ady https://www.6ts.info/audio.asp
Ady Croasdell Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 It's a master tape Andreas, unissued.
Ady Croasdell Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 Maybe too southern in places for you Pete, what about the Junior Johnson, not your style either?
Pete S Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Maybe too southern in places for you Pete, what about the Junior Johnson, not your style either? I like it, it sounded really good, horns blasting everywhere, just not sure if it's the best Maybe I'm just too jaded now to get excited over records anymore. Didn't like the Junior Johnson clip though.
Ady Croasdell Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 It hit most parts for me and was different enough from others to make it special, as with all sounds you really need a few full listenings to assess it but I did think it brilliant first play. Junior Johnson is a weird one but has incredible moments in it.
Guest keithh Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Ady, that is one of the few tracks that make me say 'I NEED that', my sort of uptempo dancer, love the horns. Do you have any details, where and when it was recorded, who wrote and produced it etc. Any plans for putting it on a CD? (Please!!!!!)
Marc Forrest Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 dont like the junior johnson as well although I love southern, I do like the melvin parker though (as much as your great move to include soundclips on the 6s site now ), not saying its the "best" but its a 7 out 10 in my book ;) the demures by the way is very nice.
Wiggyflat Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Like them both but the Melvin Parker is right up my street.....
