Prophonics 2029 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) Are the Reo's a lot harder to find, I have a nice copy of See The Big Man Cry with a nice Reo sleeve. @ £ 150 for a £ 20 record gives me some indication is a turf un so are they all like that. Edited July 25, 2014 by Prophonics 2029
Robbk Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I saw a LOT of that issue back in the day. I don't imagine that it would be "rare" now.
Pete S Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Wouldn't put more than £25 on it. Now Rufus Lumley on Reo, that was a rare one... 1
Chris L Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Most of Edwin's Ric Tic stuff seems to have come out on Reo.
Prophonics 2029 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Wouldn't put more than £25 on it. Now Rufus Lumley on Reo, that was a rare one... Is That Standing or Stronger Pete.
Guest smudgesmith Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Is That Standing or Stronger Pete. Standing. I have Dee Clark......Thats my Girl on REO
Guest MrC Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I have Dee Clark......Thats my Girl on REO never seen one of those!
Chris L Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Standing. I have Dee Clark......Thats my Girl on REO Have Spellbinders - Help me on red Reo (also original issue on Canadian Columbia) plus some others stuff. I think there were two labels, Quality & Reo that issued soul stuff.
Cheapsiderecords Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I have 3 45's on the lovely Ruby red Canadian Ric Tic lable. Does anyone know how many were actually issued on Canadian? Also, any other Ric Tic things on Reo apart from Edwins stuff? 1
Prophonics 2029 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Standing. I have Dee Clark......Thats my Girl on REO Shame ! So Stronger is LP only. I had it on an acetate that cut off after the first chorus but I never knew that for 30 years til I got it on a Kent cd. Lol
Guest Gogs Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Hi andy hope you are well I've got a copy of The Sapphires "who do you love" on reo, i've not seen any others for sale.
Guest turntableterra Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 dave moore has a couple of items on reo so he may be able to help also, it does appear to have quite an eclectic catalogue, why might that be...anyone. i would like a willie hutch "the duck" on a nice red demo on reo, now that would be nice
45cellar Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Not sure when they changed from REO REAL HUMDINGER - J J BARNES is on REO TO WIN YOUR HEART - LAURA LEE is on RCA VICTOR CANADA INTERNATIONAL Same as HEADLINE NEWS - EDWIN STARR 1
Robbk Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 "Say It" by J.J. Barnes was also on REO. Appaently the changeover occurred some time in mid-late 1966. 1

Robbk Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I think it was a bit like the Canadian equivalent of UK Stateside - licensed in product from many labels, produced none of it's own music. That's true, but, unlike UK Stateside (I believe), REO did license Canadian productions. 1
Pete S Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 That's true, but, unlike UK Stateside (I believe), REO did license Canadian productions. I can think of a handful of UK production that came out on Stateside Robb, Kenny Miller is one, The Untamed is another, the link being American producer Shel Talmy who produced both records.
Cheapsiderecords Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 You can add Mary Wells - Bye Bye Baby to the list of Canadian Reo Motown releases.
Premium Stuff Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 "Say It" by J.J. Barnes was also on REO. Appaently the changeover occurred some time in mid-late 1966. Was it Robb? "Say It" is not on any Reo listings I have ever seen I don't think Cheers Richard
Robbk Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Was it Robb? "Say It" is not on any Reo listings I have ever seen I don't think Cheers Richard I'm sure I have seen it several times. Of course that was many years ago.
Premium Stuff Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I'm sure I have seen it several times. Of course that was many years ago. What - sure like "think" or sure like "positive" Robb? - as sure as you need to be if playing Russian Roulette? Cheers Richard
Robbk Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 What - sure like "think" or sure like "positive" Robb? - as sure as you need to be if playing Russian Roulette? Cheers Richard It's not listed on Global Dog -only "Real Humdinger". I'm in Munich now. I'll have to wait until I return home to see if I have it myself. Maybe I was only remembering "Real Humdinger, but I don't think so. I'm picturing reading it off the label. My photographic memory doesn't fail me much )although, I wouldn't stake my life on it, as it was almost exactly 50 years ago. 1
