Dave Pinch Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 is there something i dont know about this 45 or are there just two crackpots at large https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300780379195?nma=true&si=G%2FyRCAAYgElMXYZGnys6b45FxAY%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=true
Roburt Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Well I'd guess that the picture sleeve only came with SOME copies of the 45 ..... .... but I'd have to agree that whoever paid over $140 for this was off their rocker.
Daved Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Excellent record, but that is ridiculous. I would've thought it charted in the US (sold well anyway)
boba Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I'm pretty sure both sides got radio play. It's crazy though because I just searched musicstack, gemm, discogs, and ebay and there are very few Maze 45s for sale at all. The ones for sale are random titles people don't care about. Maybe someone is cornering the Maze market.
Girthdevon Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Way too much IMO, but been a sought after 45 for a long time - nothing to do with the pic sleeve I wouldn't have thought. The full length studio version is (i think) only on the Live In New Orleans dbl LP, the 45s have edited versions of the studio cut - the US demo slightly longer, and the UK / US 12" feature a long live version recorded at Hammersmith - which nobody really wanted, nice enough but not a patch on the studio take - silly Capitol record executives. Released at a time when the 12" was king - I think i've seen under 10 copies of the US / UK 45s in all the years, and they always fly out the door....never seen the French issue.... Cheers Girth

Daryl Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) think its for the joy & pain side as it is not the live Uk version but a bit steep a price will have to put mine up for sale at this price but still a live version but the crowd not so loud if you know what i man Edited September 24, 2012 by Daryl
Girthdevon Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 only got a usa white promo of the studio cut girth was the new orleans version on a 45 then No, but i'd like one if it was....
Dave Pinch Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 so would i ..i love the studio version but the live in new orleans is something else,,but at 7 mins long and it would be a shame to edit it ...might not fit comfortably ( sound quality etc) on a 7in// quite playable off the lp..sounded tremendous at monumental girth
phillyDaveG Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 the UK / US 12" feature a long live version recorded at Hammersmith - which nobody really wanted, nice enough but not a patch on the studio take - silly Capitol record executives. Cheers Girth Have to disagree with that one mate. That is THE version for me and just about everyone I know, and was a big seller.
Girthdevon Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Have to disagree with that one mate. That is THE version for me and just about everyone I know, and was a big seller. We always got asked for the studio version @ Crazy Beat - i'll have to have a listen to it again, its been a while....
boba Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 thanks for clarifying the value of this record

Kegsy Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 so would i ..i love the studio version but the live in new orleans is something else,,but at 7 mins long and it would be a shame to edit it ...might not fit comfortably ( sound quality etc) on a 7in// quite playable off the lp..sounded tremendous at monumental girth I reckon I have the UK 12" clear vinyl promo kicking about somewhere. Dave Pinch Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 I reckon I have the UK 12" clear vinyl promo kicking about somewhere. Which version would that be ?? Kegsy are you talking about the look in your eyes kegsy
Dave Pinch Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 was just about to look for a US wdj too !! i cant find one ian..dont get me wrong i wont buy it as i got a 7in already but ive had a look round and 7s seem a bit thin on the ground period..i still cant account for the $150 ebay sale tho
Smudger Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 MMMMMMM! I think ive got that exact record with pic sleeve somewhere i think i'll have to search around and make sure it's put somewhere safe.
SLAMMINSOUL Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) If i could pick your brains there guys. I have The look in your eyes on 45 and my copy plays at the wrong speed. One of my pals has the same record and we've played it back to back on the one turntable and mine defo sounds faster. Its not a prob with the deck. Was this also pressed slightly speeded up? Sorry forgive my lack on knowledge on this. Its always bugged me! Atb Clint Edited September 26, 2012 by SLAMMINSOUL
Kegsy Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 are you talking about the look in your eyes kegsy No Joy and pain, which always brings a certain look into my eyes. kegsy
Kegsy Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 MMMMMMM! I think ive got that exact record with pic sleeve somewhere i think i'll have to search around and make sure it's put somewhere safe. Your John will look after it I'm sure. kegsy
soulmac Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I have The look in your eyes on 45 and my copy plays at the wrong speed. Atb Clint So does mine soulmac.
Roburt Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Your John will look after it I'm sure. kegsy I've probably already got it on a UK issue. No idea where to start looking to check though. I'll have to find the time to sort everything into some sort of order in my record boxes. I spend way more time looking for some 45's than actually playing em.
SLAMMINSOUL Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Ah ! so there is another 1. Any ideas about this being pressed at different speed? For the record i prefer it quicker. Soulmac? Clint Edited September 27, 2012 by SLAMMINSOUL
