Andreas B Posted September 17, 2012 Share Posted September 17, 2012 getting lots of plays again it seems (and a lot of mention on here) is the LP only track "Sadie Sadie" from the Ripple Blast Singers LP "Funny Girl Ala Soul". picked it up on a dig first time at a shop I'd never been to here in Copenhagen, posted it here on trade as there were other tracks I was after, but it grew on me so much that its become a major staple of my sets. absolutely stellar spin, surprising nobody has cut a 45 boot of it. I was just back in the states and catching my flight from San Francisco to New York I stupidly left my bag of LPs on the roof of my friend's car when she dropped me off in a rush. she got onto the freeway and was going 60+mph when someone honked at her and pointed to the roof all my LPs in tact, saved probably by the weight of my 45 adaptors in the same bag! absolutely devastating to realize I was without them at first though. now waiting to get it shipped back so it can reclaim its rightful seat in my set. 1 Link to comment Social source share More sharing options...

Either lp-only tracks, or album tracks that were much much cheaper than the 45 releases, e.g. Silhouettes on Goodway. If I find the time I'll knock a list together of what I played over the years. what do people feel about tracks getting played off lp's when the same track is available on a 45 but at a much higher price, does anyone care? But as I say, that's no bad thing because a) it means I've discovered a quality new tune and b) it hasn't cost me anything!! The best one I ever had in this scenario was a track called 'Hey Big Brother' which I had on a tape that somebody had given me in the 90s, just an absolutely wonderful midtempo 70s tune, but the tape had no track listing and I searched high and low for years trying to find it, buying LPs 'blind' because they had song titles 'Brother' or 'Big Brother' but I had no joy. Then one day I was off work and pulled out a load of LPs just to track and put on the Opus 7 LP from 1979 on Source which I'd bought 12 months earlier at Yarmouth for the stepper 'I Love You' and another track called 'The Way You Move Me' and as I looked at the track listing saw the track 'Hey Big Brother' and I thought no f*cking WAY!!! So on it went, the first bars kicked in and my bloody jaw hit the floor, what a dolt, had my biggest want in the collection for a year without knowing it!! Very scarce but not impossible to find, a few djs on the mod scene do own copies. Little Ann was pressed on 45 on Kent select.
