I have quite a few Motown stable records with DR written on in black marker.

Anybody know what its all about.

I've had a couple on MIracle with that on as well, like Jimmy Ruffin - someone on here did explain it but I can't remember who or where.

Isn'tit something to do with them being 'Distributors Returns'? Records that were sent back as unsold from the distributors that ended up getting spread around the cheap shops/supermarkets/music stores for the bargain bins, often bundled up into a pack of 5 records or so?

There's a great thread about the distribution network on here somewhere, think it was last year, but I sure learned a lot for it, well worth looking up.
