Ady Croasdell Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Anyone remember what year I started playing these at the 100 Club? It was mid to late 90s.
Guest in town Mikey Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I started going again in Summer of 1998 Ady. Ben E King was well established, it seemed to me, by then.
Simsy Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Yeah think Gerri Granger was earlier than that 93/94 ish maybe.
Ady Croasdell Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Yeah think Gerri Granger was earlier than that 93/94 ish maybe. They were both from the same find so would be at the same time, I'd have thought that a bit early but maybe.

Well I can remember dating this sort called Michella when I lived at the Grange and took her with me to the 100 one night. Can remember hearing GG played. Doubt it was later than 94 as I'd moved from the Grange by then. I'm sticking with 94, or earlier.
Tony Smith Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) I know I was on the DJ roster the first night it was played, as I was on directly after it! (Ben E King) It was being played when Yarmouth was on, if that's any help. Edited September 12, 2012 by Tony Smith

Ady Croasdell Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 What year did the "Gettin to Me" CD come out? 2000 but it took us ages to get the rights

Rob Wigley Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Ady, there's an article somewhere where you describe finding these acetates "Within 1/4 mile of the 100 Club" is it in one of the Cleethorpes Mags ? and Ben E King as one of your favourite sounds / finds of all time ??!! Chalky Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I remember the article Rob, if I knew for certain what it was in I would know where to look. I seen to remember something about the Ben E King in the sleeve notes for the cd it is on. 1

Simsy Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I still don't think GTM sounds like Ben E. Too deep. Unless he was on a baritone tone tip in the early days. What year? Is on atco though, hmmm..
