Benji Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Have about 10 records on Ebay at the moment. But apart from one none of them can be found via Ebay search. Also, none of them are listed when I search by my seller ID, benji72 Two auctions, both active. Yet they appear to be "unknown", can't be found via any keyword search. Only way to find them on Ebay is search by item number. https://www.ebay.com/itm/200817414461?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 https://www.ebay.com/itm/200817414585?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Does anyknow what might has happened? Has Ebay changed anything? Did I do something wrong? Here's the only auction that is listed and can be found via Ebay search. Where's the difference https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-SWEET-MODERN-SOUL-Hamilton-Movement-LOOK-OUT-45-HEAR-IT-/200817414401?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item2ec1a69101 Thanks for your help!
Rich Buckley Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Benji, check out the "Where have all the ebay records gone" in All About The Soul. I'm sure it'll be linked to that. I'd get in touch with Ebay if I were you. Good luck. Rich
Sebastian Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 There seems to be some glitches with eBay at the moment. Records appear, disappear an re-appear in a matter of hours. Are you searching from the .com site? I am and I can find 10 of your auctions by searching for them in the regular search box at the top and also by searching for your username (see below). Hope things work out!
Benji Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Thanks for your feedback. I'm searching from the .com side using Win7 IE. But just tried it on an Win XP PC, full result! So it seems to be a Win7 IE problem???
Benji Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Update: doesn't seem to be an IE problem. Tried it on the laptop using Firefox and IE. no results on both FFS! Any other seller having problems displaying his items?
boba Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 ebay is a complicated distributed system with lots of redundancy, etc. It always was true that when you initially did a listing, the auction might show up by itself but not show up under items for sale by seller. It always eventually fixed itself. Has to be the result of some cached data getting stale and only later updated.

It always eventually fixed itself. Has to be the result of some cached data getting stale and only later updated. Spent a few hours browsing Ebay's german and US help pages. From what I gather the problems you described happen only within the first 24h of a listing. I put up my items last sunday and as of now only one is shown under items by seller. Email contact is only available for german support. But as my items are listed on .com site they simply blame their american colleagues and told me to contact US support. Only way to contact US support is by phone. I sure won't call them so I officially give up now and accept that a few lucky buyers will get my records for peanuts.
Diggin' Dave Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 eBay.com has gone completely bonkers over the last couple of days and most items haven't shown up but I just checked and everything is back to 'normal' (well it's eBay so normal is a big word). I just checked and I can see your 10 auctions atm so fingers crossed that it stays that way
Dave Fleming Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I can see all 10 45s for sale....... Dave f.....
Swifty Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I reckon it always goes wrong when I put some sales on , as I only ever sell a few and usually for F**k All! Cheers Lucky Eddie p.s. note to self , must try and sell Boots as they fetch more than originals !

Britmusicsoulfan Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I think things on eBay are really hosed up at the moment. I have 2,300 items in my store and have had sales drop off 90 percent from previous months. I will need to call them tomorrow.

Jordirip Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 search with formats (records) before you hit the rnb/ soul botton mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes no difference, you still only get 990 in auctions. There's normally hundreds of thousands!
Sebastian Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 It makes no difference, you still only get 990 in auctions. There's normally hundreds of thousands! I get 193.000+ here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/Records-/176985/i.html?_dmpt=Music_on_Vinyl&Genre=R%2526B%2520%2526%2520Soul&rt=nc ...and the "Motown" category is back...
Jordirip Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I get 193.000+ here: https://www.ebay.com/...26%20Soul&rt=nc ...and the "Motown" category is back... Wow! that's bizzare Seb, I now get (using your link) 187,000+ inc. buy it nows and 10,000+ in auction. What's happening? Jordi
Mr Smithy Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Benji FWIW if I click your links they all show up. and if I do a search they do too. Who knows?
Mick Holdsworth Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) It's to do with ebay.com CHANGING the records catagory number from 306, to 176985, as someone pointed out on the other thread. I've just updated Turbo Lister and the old catagory 306 is now obsolete. Hope this helps Cheers Mick Edited September 14, 2012 by Mick Holdsworth
boba Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I think what happened relates to stale data / caching. ebay changed the category ID, but some stale data might have been tagged with the old category ID (for example).
