Maxine Brown "yesterday's Kisses"

Recommended Posts

I won a job lot of Maxine Brown records (pictured below) for £4.63 and one of them is Ask Me / Yesterday's Kisses.

Yesterdays Kisses is new to me (its from 1963) but I absolutely love it and is so like Kurt Harris's "Emperor of My Baby's Heart" (but a little faster)

Does it get played out? (I don't get out much but will be soon as I am moving back to Aycliffe!)

Phwoar! Vinyl porn!

Nice one...I have a nice Chuck Jackson 'Any Other Way' looking just like that as well.

I wonder if your all white Demos are in fact Canadian Demos? Only, Wand Demos I've got I'm sure say something along the lines of Advanced Copy, whatever?

what a great thread this is , i have been looking at my copy of this ( same as pauls copy that is ) over the weekend, but i just could not decide what title to list it as on Ebay

so is the white copy

1 , white demo

2, white issue

3, white label promo

the reason i put white label promo is the dealer i bought it off said it was , but im not sure it is ,

anyone know what is the best to list it as , thanks Eddy

That white one is a stock copy as far as I know. It doesn't say promo anywhere on the label.

I wonder if the pic sleeve only cane with demos. Fkynny what's hiding inside your sleeve?

Don't think it matters what's hiding inside Flynny's sleeve, sleeves can easily be swapped.

There'll be some rhyme or reason for the picture sleeve releases, I just wish I could get to the bottom of it.

A stock copy...West Coast Monarch pressed...and looking at your demo I'd wager yours is also a Monarch press?

MAYBE the sleeves were used to further expose Maxine to the West Coast audience?

However, as Denbo points out, sleeves and discs may well experience swap-arounds over the years.

This threads just reminded me that I have a copy of this with picture cover but I can't remember if it is an issue or demo. Either way it's going to be up for grabs as I'm selling up bit by bit... and I don't think I've ever played it. Bearing in mind it came from John at the Bowl, that should give you a clue as to condition.

I hope it goes to a good home, the record is almost 50 years old and I just got mine in a job lot this week, dropped the needle on it and fell in love, I am almost embarrassed by that fact!

They did several PS's around this time - Kingsmen and a couple of others as well spring to mind. You are right probably done to help promote the artist and as a bit of a novelty. Not all copies would have come with PS maybe a couple of thousand.

A very plausible answer to my earlier question(s). Thanks Ste.
