Suinoz Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Hi there HELP PLEASE - Is this an original? (see scan) I am a little confused to say the least, I have researched this record and am still non the wiser Quotes from Soul Source members: "The boot is white with green print the real one is green Diamond as usual" Actually I have an ORIGINAL white with green writing demo as well as an original blue issue." Cheers and thanks in advance for any help - Sue
The Yank Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I'm almost 99.99 % sure that's a boot. Most Diamond promos look like the regular issues with the "promotional copy not for sale" on them. Brown and Koppel mention a white label promo with green lettering as a bootleg
Prophonics 2029 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I have had both demos and that green one is a Boot sound quality is poor and large deadwax.
Pete S Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Yes it's the first boot (never noticed any problems with the sound quality though) there's a second one, a counterfeit which has fooled many many people over the years, they even went to the trouble of putting drill holes on many of them.

Pete S Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 For Mr Prophonics 2029, I've got a white / green boot of Larry Hale "Once" here, in my own collection, I bought it in October 1976, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the sound quality at all. In fact I recorded it and posted it up so if you still insist it's poor quality, you can have a listen. https://www.divshare....ad/19529720-7d6 Edited slightly due to merging topics.
Prophonics 2029 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) I will have a listen later Pete thanks. I thought when I got the white/green it was an original but I was much happier with an original blue demo. Edited September 11, 2012 by Prophonics 2029
Soulsider Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I have always thought that the boot label of this looks more genuine than the original "diamond" label. Weird I know and I can't think of any others like that off the top of my head. Hence I will keep it for its looks as well as a great casino dancer that I've never heard played out for years.

My copy is DIANOND ISSUE, 2 Things about the record 1, it was considered for a $TATESIDE RELEASE?? 2, demos exist on the same label as the issue? oh 3, I once got confused about the BOBBY DIAMOND Record?? can you believe that???OK you can  DAVE
