Stateside Records Expert Needed

Recommended Posts

dont think it goes that high does it

Just bought one from the states,

UK Stateside 'JSS 1142' Oscar Toney Jnr - For your precious love/Ain't that true love.

Looked on the discography and it's not supposed to be that number.

Was there any Stateside stuff booted on a UK Stateside label?

Can't see any that start with 'J' either (JSS)?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370647985972?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

The print looks rather suspicious not being in the usual font.

Some UK HMV export singles from the 50s and 60s were given a JO prefix, rather than a POP prefix. I'd always believed that the JO stood for Johannesburg. This kind of reinforces that assumption.

Does anyone know anything about CSS prefixed UK Stateside 45s?

I have two other Oscar Toney Jnr South African Stateside 45's JSS 1170 & 1204 (which is Dark green rather than black) Got them of Denny Johnson when he was working over there and picking up some interesting stuff - he use to pass the 'Deeper' stuff onto me :)
