Swifty Yes good this end matey hope the same with you.Looking forward to Driving Beat in Leeds tonight, should be a good un. Just love Big May's voice so distinctive & soulful, saying that not much stuff by her in the collection which I should rectify? Worth getting a copy of "Here I Am" for "Steal Away" which just a brilliant slowie,I keep meaning to get it cut to a carver as I can't be arsed to carry LP's out with me usually so I don't get to play it out enough Cheers Martyn 1
Ady Of Newark Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I'm so enjoying discovering B-sides . I must have had this record 25 years and this flip side is a proper tune Formations - magic melody (flip to at the top of the stairs) on MGM 2
Autumnstoned Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 (edited) Jimmy Ruffin - Since I Lost You & I Want Your Love. Sounds like it was recorded at same time as He Who Picks A Rose - couldn't have been could it? Edited October 20, 2012 by autumnstoned

Peter99 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 A little bit of yellow mellow for a grey saturday afternoon. Bought this way back in the day and loved it. Pat Brady spin initially - I think, might have been Sam and Dickie. Twas a long time ago. Found it last night whilst looking for somehting else. Popular Post Peter99 Posted October 20, 2012 Popular Post Posted October 20, 2012 big thanks to dave for starting this thread , all who have looked, liked , posted , ect a good idea is a good idea Yep, been a good thread this Gogger - think Dave is running a series. Lots of good music has been posted it, it's been positive and an education. It hasn't been poncy or elitist in anyway and I've felt comfortable posting a few bits up alongside the more obscure and quality stuff of others. Great stuff - well done everyone. Peter 5

Steve Edgar Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Today's post is from the "Here I Am" Motown LP,it's the LP that has the brilliant "Steal Away" (which I've already posted) & title track "Here I Am" on it.This has also been done by the Supremes but not sure who did it first because they are both from 66 & but for me this is the far better version?............is it me or is it the same backing track as Love Unlimited "It May Be Winter Outside"???? Barbara Mcnair-Everything Is Good About You Motown LP With you on this being the better version Martyn think supremes was first (1965?) also prefer Barbara McNairs version of Supremes "My World Is Empty Without You" You was asking if it was on US 45! it is mate! steve ps when I was playing it our lass asked what it was the similar backing to? .... then she started humming "It may be winter outside"
Steve Edgar Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Great little cheapie! James & Bobby Purify "Wish You Didn't Have To Go" on Bell steve

Ady Of Newark Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Continuing the theme of album tracks, this is a current biggie in my area - 'Do You Love Me Just A Little Bit Honey' by the Supremes & Four Tops. It's not often that a track improves on the original (Gladys Knight) version, but this tune really raises the bar IMHO. Hope you agree.... 3
Andy Reynard Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Main Ingredient - Have you ever tried-RCA today and as I was too busy too post yesterday Lovelites- My Conscience also 1
Autumnstoned Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Apologies if this has been posted before:- Tammi Terrell - I Can't Believe You Love Me. The song writing and production on this is stunning I think. Did Johnny Bristol and Harvey Fuqua write a bad track when they were at Motown? 3

Maybe unfair as I obviously don't know her . Swifty 1

Dave Harrison Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Have to agree with the above posts. Has been a fantastic thread since its beggining, with such a diverse range of soul music being posted for us all to hear, so much of it new to my ears ! I will just say though that we are starting to get quite a few "duplicates" now. Inevitable I guess, as there are so many pages to check back through! Keep em coming though! Cheers Dave
