Steve G Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Timmy Shaw & Chuck Holliday - has anyone seen or got this 45? Steve
John Reed Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Steve, John Ridley mentions it on his web site under Timmy Shaw, sadly no picture and its listed on Richard Domar's web site, but don't know if its still available https://www.domarrecords.co.uk/usaorig3.htm
Paul McKay Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Timmy Shaw & Chuck Holliday - has anyone seen or got this 45? Steve Yep, I've got one Steve!
boba Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 do you have the eldees? would love to see / hear it
Paul McKay Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 OK thanks what is it like Paul? I'll have to get back to you on that Steve. It's behind a bookcase at the moment!
Paul McKay Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Actually, no it's not - just found it. Typical 60s midtempo male duets with perhaps a southern feel. Reminiscent of Pic & Bill somehow. Mainly guitar, drum and piano backing - no brass. "You better (get yourself together) the original a side has a slightly funky break. Don't recall noticing this on other Big Hit 45s - this one has the titles in the run out, plus JMM's intitials and "Sound Patterns mastering Detroits first!" scratched in. 1
Premium Stuff Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I can do you sound files of both sides if you don't already have them mate I'm "Such A Lonely Guy" is the better more 'northern' side Cheers Richard 1
Prophonics 2029 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 He sounds white on SALG allways like that one.
Steve G Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 THANKS guys. It was a missing number here and i couldn't find one on the net either, although i see craig moerer has one for sale. just wanted to confirm it's existence which we've now done
selectadisc Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 any word on the eldees? When I collected the label, found The Eldees the toughest to find. I spent a lot of time in Detroit in the late 80's and finally purchased it from a collecter for $250. Big Hit 111 and Big Hit 110 with its different flip side was also scarce. Just moved home and will try to post in the next few weeks. Cheers Richard
boba Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 that would be awesome to see or hear. thanks in advance.
Tricky Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Too true Boba. The Eldees on Big Hit was beginning to sound like a myth. When somebodys mistake gets added from scribble to published list.
selectadisc Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Apologise for the photo quality, red labels are always a problem. Info is as follows:- a-side Help Me Grow Up (To Be A Man) written by D. Yancey, who also wrote the groups the a-side of the Eldees release on Dynamics, so presume it is the same group. Produced by Johnnie Mae Matthews and D.Yancey, Music by Black Nasty. b-side You're A Sweet Thing written by D.Yancey & H.McGhee. Production credits the same. Will try to post a soundbite later, when I am back working. To anyone who has noticed I only have one posting, I have been away from the site for a time with cancer, my wife dying of cancer, relocating to another town etc. When I came to log back on I had forgotten my password. Sign of the times, I am sure a lot of you can relate to it, so I had to start over again. Thanks to Mike for his help. Of to the States next week, so hopefully will do so buying and I will be back selling in a couple of weeks. Cheers Richard Pack Edited September 14, 2012 by selectadisc 1
boba Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I don't know what else to say except I'm really really sorry about you and your wife's health; I hope you recover quickly and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to take these photos (awesome) despite everything you're dealing with. Thank you. 2
