i found a few which are now sold but have no info on it. well liked and easy to see why but where it from etc? found them whilst looking for some reggae bits so was wondering if it was Jamaican.

given that the pic you just posted is exactly the same angle as the ebay pic but slightly larger than you can get the ebay pic to be, I assume it's your ebay BIN. if you're gonna bump a thread and add nothing except a sales pitch (which you probably shouldn't do in the first place), at least say it's you.

it looks just like the "inter/soul" label pressings, and might even be related given the "intro" in the label name. That's all I was basing my post on, if someone has more info I would love to be corrected or even just know more about it.

Are you sure it's Detroit? Where did you get that information? Givens is a Detroit label. I never heard of Goins being located in Detroit. What year was the record released? It doesn't look like a '60s Detroit font. I don't remember Goins Records on any list of Detroit labels. including Graham's or the other major Detroit label lists. Can somebody post an MP3 of at least snippits of the cuts? I'd like to see if I can hear Detroit session players in the instrumental.

I didn't say it was a 60s label, I said it looks like the inter/soul label which is a 70s label. This is the inter/soul label:

Princess Selene Pub. is based out of New York (107 E 10th St) and the 2 songs on this 45 are the only ones registered in Ronnie West's name.

.... unless he also wrote as Ronnie Bernard West .......... who's songs are registered with outfits based in Gordon, GA & Milledgeville, GA.

i saw the new york publisher before posting but being in new york, i assumed that it was just a larger publisher and not connected to the label. also, it doesn't look like anything I know pressed on the east coast. apparently it's an apartment building now (with slumlord type reviews for the management company) but it must have not been that before since there's no number in the publishing address.

I listened to it, and it doesn't sound like Detroit to me. I don't hear any of the recognisable session players. Don't get me wrong, I admit I don't know almost ANYTHING about '70s music. But, with a New York publisher, an artist not known to be a Detroit artist (or IS he?), a label not known to be a Detroit label (or IS it?),and a sound that doesn't sound "Detroitish" (at least to me), I'm a little skeptical. So, Bob, is there information you haven't written on this thread that helps you make the decision that there's a decent possibility that the record was recorded in Detroit? I always thought that Ronnie West was an East Coaster. And that might jibe with the New York publishing company. Did you see the Goins Records label listed somewhere as Detroit? I'm not trying to play the devil's advocate here. I'm just trying to learn.

No, I only based my comment on the fact that it really looks like the inter/soul label. Whenever I see a new york publisher I almost always assume it's a publishing company unrelated to the label. But I haven't seen this publisher before so it might be some tiny publisher owned by the label owner. The building at that address clearly isn't the building that was there when the record came out so it's hard to tell.

It sounds to me more like an LA latino lowrider type of sound. Lovely little tune though, digging the San Francisco TKO's type horns and production on it.

for the record, i think the one he was referring to was actually my wife's copy on ebay.

The B-side of the record is as good if not better imo. "Movin On" its an awesome slab of soul when it gets in on you.
