been wanting to do this one for a while

most of you good people out there must own records and have sold records with names written on labels, and scratched into the run out

we all did when we were younger

so would it be nice to re-unite people with these discs, not to give back but to see if they are 1, still on the scene 2, remember the record , how much sold for( sold for 25p now £3000 ) 3 , if they are on this site and so on......

ill kick off with 2

come on down.....

1.rick broughton 207 vale rd colwick notts 13.6.76(scratched neatly in run out)

modern redcaps - never too young - swan

2 .adrian macmanus(scratched in run out)

bobby sheen - something new to do - wb issue

happy soulin

ps, record re-unite will not be responsible for marriage breakups!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice one, I use to scratch my name in the run out groove, I'm sure there's some out there with my name on them.

My mate Van Asbury, used to pen his name VAN on the label, so if anybody has one of those, he's now in Perth Oz and back on the scene over there, he may be interested in getting some of tunes back.

If anyone has NL scratched in the run out groove then it's a good chance it's a guy called Nick Lyde from North Wales, who disappeared off the scene in about 1975, not been seen since. I had some great tunes off this guy, he used to supply some of the top DJ's of the day, so I reckon they will have moved on by now. yes.gif

Does anybody know the whereabouts of Nashville Matrix, who's scratched his name in quite a few of my records

I had a few records stolen in the mid 80s (mainly cheapos and reissues) which had a NTM graphic drawn on the label - always the b side - with horizontal lines connecting the crossbar of the T with the adjacent leg on the N and the last leg of the M giving an underline (if you can visualise that!). If any of these turn up I'd be interested whistling.gif

Taking this a little further, I have a number of records from the States, with little name/address stickers on the label (You have to leave them there case the label rips), and I often wonder, what that particular record meant to the original owner, and why they purchased it all those years ago as a new release. As I've picked a lot of these from yard sales, house clearances on ebay, I find it's kinda sad that the person who bought it originally, maybe no longer with us. :wicked:

Slightly off topic, but I bought a copy of a Booker T. classic Time is Tight. It was in a junk shop. Some joker had scratched out the word "Time" on the label and scrawled the name "Jan" in red pen above it. Maybe it was my imagination, but I'm certain I could see the pent up frustration in his desperate handwriting.

Yeah just to follow up what Johnny said earlier - Andy Simpson top bloke used to live just a few miles away from me when I still lived in Bradford. Read any mid 70s fanzine and his name often crops up as a top dancer or big collector. Was a big Mecca boy and friend of Ian Levine.

'Ronnie from Oldham' - always used to see him at the Manchester Ritz allnighters throughout the late 90s, then at Prestwich. Havent seen him recently.

Have got loads of names scratched on run out grooves as far as I recall, next time I'm rummaging I'll look for some. onwards, derek

Andy Simpson - one of my fave's on the scene, here's piccy with him last feb at Perth Airport, he flew in as i was flying out caught up for a few drinks whilst I was waiting for my flight home. Still chat with him on a regualr basis on line, will point this thread out to him

I have stamped my name with a special stamp on all my records, I know that will annoy a lot of people but I have no intentions of ever selling them during my lifetime yes.gif

That reminds of those barstard 'TB' a.k.a 'Tony Bolton Mobile Disco' stickers on EVERY record he sold in the North West.

Damn the blithering idiot ranting_1.gif , ruined plenty a label with his stickers!!!

If you're reading, Tony Bolton, then this is for you: wanker.gif

:D:D:thumbsup:
