John Reed Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) Well this one popped up into my browser today and this version is a new one to me (suppose we can't know everything). Its b/w Toussaint McCall Nothing Takes The Place Of You. https://www.45cat.com/label/nu-sound It's a different mix/recording to the Barbara West named release on Ronn with an organ replacing the distinctive guitar and sounds earlier and I don't know if the McCall song is different to the Ronn release either. The address on the label is 713 Goldman Street, Monrow, LA and if you look on a map its smack bang in the middle between Shreveport and Jackson, so looks good to me. Was this Toussaint McCall's label, when did this come out and is there release 101 or any other later releases? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, John Edited August 22, 2012 by John Reed
mshoals Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I guess it's indeed Toussaint McCall's label. I've got 4 releases on the label:
John Reed Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) Seems the numbering restarts when the address' change. I looked up both addresses on Google maps and the Shotwell Street address brings up a house and the other address seems to be scrubland in the next street along. The 101/102 make sense as they're each side of his first Ronn single and maybe he was more involved with Barbara West than I had originally supposed. Edited August 22, 2012 by John Reed
