Old Russ spin from the late 70ts.

always quoted as one of the few things he was worthy of having played himself, and a record a good many actually like, proper all-niterspin and would definitely go now....picked up a minter off tim last year after not having heard it for years and it really is very catchy, plus it commands a reasonable price.

Cissy Houston - Be My Baby (J 145) 1970

Little Anthony & The Imperials - Father, Father (J 160) 1971

The Whispers - A Mother For My Children (J 231) 1973

This one.

By miles...

Joey dee's an interesting one, I presume Marvin Schlachter had signed him to Janus, after his limited run out at Scepter in the early 60s with the Peppermint Twisters thing. Assume it's the same fella - very different style though.

This Joey Dee is English, Steve. He came to Janus via the deal that brought Cymande to the label. Actually I think he might have been a member of Cymande...

You learn something every day. Thanks for clearing up my misconception that this was the same Joey Dee as on Jubilee etc. The wikipedia entry for Cymande does indeed list this particular Joey Dee as vocalist/percussionist.

Both Inclinations 45s are fabulous!

PS: Thanks for the clarification Tony.

Intrigues - Fly Now - Pay Later

stunning tune!, henry atkinson introduced me to this and i notice its subsequent value is justified although it really should be pushed by some of the big names to get the recognition it deserves....their stuff on yew is good as well.

This is the one for me....

Quite like this .....

Stone classic ! I think it's his best !!

From the "Planets of Life" album which also got a 1974 Contempo release as simply "The Whispers"

Don,t know if iv just been in the wrong place etc but iv never seen a Sophisticates issue before.

Saying that the one pictured is radio station stamped.

Barry Wickham Rare Records have a VG copy listed. It isn't noted as a DJ copy in the description but the description might not be totally accurate. Obviously, if it is a stock copy, this may have radio station stamps/writing on label.....but non is mentioned in the description.
