Ceejay Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 BABY YOU SATISFY ME ON VERVE Bought this one a few years back now and just wondered if this was played out on a regular basis?? When I first heard it, it was vaguely familiar to me and presumed I'd heard it at the Casino.........but .have never heard it played out anywhere in say the last ten years anywhere. Have mentioned it to mates now and then and only one or two had heard of it. Cracking record IMO. Caz

Scallybob Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Great tune, had it for years on a yellow demo. Never heard anyone play it though.
Pat Wallace Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Been in my sales box for three years and not one offer. I dont think many know or remember it. Great tune and it will get reactivated at some point in time. 1
boba Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 the other side "we all make mistakes sometimes" is great sweet soul. This group became BT Express. There is another version of the track by Richard Thompson on Columbia, who was also a member of BT Express. 1
Ceejay Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Listen to them together!! I did, lol....................sorry but it doesn't sound like the same tune to me!!!

Ceejay Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Great tune, had it for years on a yellow demo. Never heard anyone play it though. Me too..............had it in my box to play at a local soul night about 18 months ago but there was a bit of a mix up by the promoter and never got the chance!!!
Ian Dewhirst Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Rockin' Rekid! It got devalued very quickly in the early 70's 'cos it was readily available at Bradford Market for 25p a copy which meant we didn't play it 'cos it wasn't rare enough! Sheer stupidity and daft ego. It's one of the better Verve Northern Soul releases IMO. You couldn't give away The King Davis House Rockers and the Billy Woods Verve releases at the time. Little did we know that the entire stock was in Bradford. The arrogance of youth and an almost endless supply of cheap MGM/Verve 45's from a market stall killed this brilliant record off before it even got started. Perfect Northern Soul. Ian D 2
dthedrug Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 HI ALL But I think I was one of the first if not the first to own this classic? I found it in MOORS LUTON early 73, on BLACK VERVE, at the time it was unknown, and to my LUGS, it was as good as the GLORIES & SWEET THINGS RECORDS? However at the time MICK SMITH gave it the thumbs down "All records soundood on Green & Clears" I still have a yellow DEMO, I still rate it, very much so, but it would seem that MICK'S knowledge was right, it did get played at PETERBORGH for a few weeks in 75 still it's a good record and cheap DAVE 1
Ceejay Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 Many thanks for the replies..................definitely a record that should be resurrected !!! Cheers, Carol
