Oliver Cheatham (of Gaslight, Roundtrip, Oliver) was in the Young Sirs. He also sang lead on Mad Dog & the Pups tracks (though he wasn't actually in the group).

The Young Sirs line up was as follows:

Oliver Cheatham, Alan Coker (Oliver's brother in law), Van Johnson, Mike Johnson (nephew of Van) and Ronald Nore.

Alan Cocker was also a member of The Gaslight with Oliver Cheatham.

Keep your ears open for a fantastic previously unissued Oliver Cheatham release that's coming out very soon. :wicked:

It's "Ronald Noel" not "Nore". I talked to one of the members and his sister sent me an incredible photo, will try to dig it out to post.

the person I talked to told me they were in jet december 17th 1970. This was before jet was online. I just found it, was hoping it would be an article or a picture, it's just a chart. Still looking for the photo:

Also, butch and the newports and the gaslight are the same group. I have footage of the gaslight on the TV show Ebony Affair on my youtube page:

Heard this a couple of years ago via Stevie Green (Cenco) and I absolutely love it, think me and Boba had a bit of a debate about this one, sure it was this, If I remember Boba thought the harmonies were all over the place and not tight enough, then I think the debate went on that these guys couldn,t afford the studio time as opposed to some groups like the Impressions who could therefore spend more time getting it just right whereas the likes of these guys had to get in and get out and take the best take they could, I am sure Boba will correct me though

I know sometimes people don't remember or say names right also but the photo they sent me had the names written on the back (you can see the bleedthrough).

I met Oliver in the mid 80's & spent the day with him, he's a very friendly guy. The day ended in him performing live in a Scottish club & he was good.

He lives (lived ?) in a town in central France and runs a club there. A mate of mine had a place a few miles away & we went to stay there for 4/5 days about 2 years back but didn't have the time to visit the club.
