Guest markhood01 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Hi Everyone, I'm new to Soulsource and Northern Soul in general. I'm putting together a track list to be played at my wedding in a couple of weeks and I was hoping to pick your brains for good songs. I love soul and figure it's a good genre for oldies and younguns to both have a boogy to. So hit me with your favourite dancing northern soul tracks. Much appreciated, Mark
Autumnstoned Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I would say this but there are some great tunes on my Youtube Channel. Click on the link below. Willie Tee - First taste Of Hurt would be recommended. Congratulations on your wedding BTW.

Played to death I know but just listen to the lyrics.

Seano Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Here's a couple of overlapping lists of songs I've put onto CD for friends when they've been getting married. One is centred on Northern, the other a little more varied Soul. Enjoy the day!

Guest bigwiganer Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 If i'm ever lucky enough to tie the knot, for my 1st dance it would have to be The Tribulations - You Gave Me Up for Promises. Although the lyrics desribe a young lady leaving our lead singer for a man who promises her the world and the soulful singer describes how he will never take her back, its the structure of the sngs which is perfect for shocking your audience. It starts of soft and slow, to the unsupected ear, a normal slow dance song. But 30 seconds in WAM!! the tempo suddenly explodes into a 100 miles per hour sprint and suddenly screams Northern Soul. I've often fantasised with my girlfriend that if this was to be our 1st dance song we would start off in each other arms for the mellow beggining and when that beat kicks in we would seperate and throw ourselves about Best of luck to you fella. I hope you and your future Mrs enjoy a long and happy marrage KTF

Davenpete Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Surely it's GOTTA be the Dixie Cups - Chapel of Love. For me though - Gladys doing He's My Kinda Fella, the Originals Baby I'm For Real or Bobby Taylor Does your mamma know about me - all intensely personal. Dx Edited August 30, 2012 by DaveNPete
