Petedillon Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but modern stuff aint my strongest point. Which mix of Prayin, with the long spoken intro is it that Soul Sam plays? Next question is how rare and how much?
Chalky Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 several for sale on source records with 3 mixes on..... https://www.discogs.c.../release/180108 https://www.discogs.c...n/master/126570 Can't help with the mix Sam is playing tho'. Big for Adam back in the day....
Mickjay33 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) I HAVE THE 7in WITH THE SPOKEN INTRO ON SOURCE Edited August 11, 2012 by mickjay33
Dave Pinch Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 i think the spoken intro on the 12 is longer than the 7 but it shouldnt be too difficult to track down, it made no 20 on the r n b charts in the usa in 79 and even got released twice over here in 79 and 86

Sean Hampsey Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 A MASSIVE record long before the young Adam and Oddfellows, folks! I have a spare UK Demo for grabs, but don't know which version Sam is playing right now! Sean
Guest Nick Harrison Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 A MASSIVE record long before the young Adam and Oddfellows, folks! Correct Sean - Prayin was a well played track from both the 45 and the LP, throughout 1980 and 1981. Re released later by source through Island Music in the UK during 1986 and even a re edited 1988 remix appeared. Championed to great heights during the mid eighties, making many very unaware of it previous earlier release history. Also another 2 America 45 Promo copies were also circulated from The Blue Album (1980), which was a shorter version of the Sharon Paige "Tonight's The Night" and Harold's "I Should Be Your Lover", Thanks. 1

Actually it was EMI that re-released it in '86 and it was me that did the remix and supplied the acappella for the first time. We'd re-released Chuck Brown's "Busting Loose" when the Go-Go stuff started taking off and I couldn't resist putting out "Prayin" again 'cos EMI still had the rights to Source back then........ Always been a cracking record for me! Ian D
Dave Pinch Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Not bad for a House record mines goin in the skip then

Guest Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 your opinion really is gospel... ..dont mean shit to me. You can't deny History i'm afraid the North of England doesn't have the Monopoly on 4x4 dance music.
Dave Pinch Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 You can't deny History i'm afraid the North of England doesn't have the Monopoly on 4x4 dance music. cant recall myself or anybody else saying that..you see it your way and i see it mine 1
Guest Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 cant recall myself or anybody else saying that..you see it your way and i see it mine "dont mean shit to me." Then what's that supposed to mean then.
Chalky Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Can we drop the petty arguments and comments. Talk about the record. Any other crap take it to PM's. It is getting tiresome and boring opening topics just to read petty rubbish between some members. I don't want to have to keep reading stuff like this and I am sure others don't. 2
Jim G Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 it was massive in my house when I bought the album day of release in 70t's, all my mates said it was disco! sold the album in 2004 for 10p (yes pence) by mistake
