Bobby's gritty vocal drags the depths of his soul to deliver a fine vocal performance woven into an unusual, extremely haunting arrangement incorporating a purring vocal-group, intricate guitar riffs lifted by horns serving up a riveting slab of North West Northern Soul! The scan fails to capture the glorious label colouring but sitting in my hands, it is a goose-pimple inducing beauty. Why this Los Angeles creation was relegated to a flip is a mystery but underlines an example of the Northern Soul pioneers discovering yet another unappreciated 60s masterpiece. Simultaneously a monster tune at every Northern Soul club throughout the 70s. Now considered a true NS hall-of-fame classic, welcomed with back-drops and spins whenever revived in sets today.
