I've always liked this Pete. Featured in a few films I think too - makes a great soundtrack.

Just finishing my cull of Bobby's Poet Albums. Todays offering from The Poet - If you think you're lonely now. Top notch vocals from the man himself with the addition of some great harmonies/backing.

I'm just posting up random things that I like - not necessarily northern. I hope that's ok.

Here's a real melancholy tune - the best version (imo) out of many, many covers. Absolutely love it - it's a folk song really, blue eyed origins as we might say, but I think this ooozes my definition of soulful class.

Nina Simone's take of Mr Beau Jangles - and he's still grieving after his dog up and died all those years ago. Beautiful.

Bit dizzy misen Peter but could be single malt great voice Jean IMO

Mm, I'm drinking french brandy so that may well be a factor.

Yes, some talent Andy. This particular record is all about her voice - not much else to it really.

Last one from me tonight - been through a dirty old box of stuff and my hands are grubby! Should sort them old boxes out cos them records are a wasting. Used to love dancing to this and not heard it for ages.

Was a big record early 80's - and like many of that era had a short shelf life. The Escorts - Sing a Happy Song.

:hatsoff2: HI ALL....Only a very small number of artist's in the history of the RARE/NORTHERN SOUL LIST OF THOUSOUNDS OF 45'S This man was the #1 of them all. in 1972 when those who saw him, set the reception of how to meet & greet a true superstar, the man was worshiped by all, his name was....

MAJOR LANCE RIP. The record I have picked is in many ways his best? it was his 1st on OKeh records written by another iconic artist CURTIS MAYFIELD, This was not a follow up to another release this is the MAJOR singing at his very best, and every record that followed had this as a bench mark

In 1072 when MAJORS UK COLUMBIA RECORDS were being unearthed, "ain't no soul" & "Investigate", My mentor/sage returned from a trip to the USA,

This was the 1st time I had heard this sound, it is still one of MICKS ALL TIME FAVOURATES, HOPE YOU LIKE IT?

I DEDICATE THIS TO THE BEDFORD BOYS PAST & PRESENT{-

OKeh RECORDS 4-7168 - MAJOR LANCE - DELILAH, RATED**********10 STARS, 0 VALUE £50-£100 ISSUE, DEMO (PETE FROM BEDFORD TOP COLLECTOR OF OKeh WOULD NO?) PLEASE ENJOY  DAVE

Got go do it all again at a charity all-dayer (NORTHERN SOUL & MOTOWN REVUE CHARITY ALLDAYER,TADCASTER) where I'll be spinning a few.So I've dug a few forgotten oldies out to give a whirl & here's one that might make it to the decks............

Gloria Lynne-You Don't Have To Be A Tower Of Strength Everest

You should hear the twelve Martyn - the intro is over two minutes long and very tedious!
