Dylan Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 "who understands" has had a few minor spins lately and today i've had a listen to "crunchin song" which to me would also sound great in a club possibly the stronger of the two sides. The flip to the later is also a strong sweet soul side. did they make any other 45s on this label or any other labels ? i've only seen these 2 so far. both are certainly worth keeping ane eye out for IMO and should still be around for $10 or so.
Chalky Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 as far as I know just the two, their own label I think, Boba will confirm. There is an interview with them on Bob's site. I used to play "Who Understands" out occasionally some years ago.

I think both are great. just digging through some records today and found these. would be great if a couple of other things surfaced but I guess thats very unlikely now.
Kris Holmes Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 yeah, great cheapies, i like both those records. don't have any others by them.
boba Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 That was the Pharoahs' label not their label. The song is supposed to be the Grunchions song, it's mistitled on the 45 (it's Herb Kent speech, they explain what it means in the interview). They had two more records, they are exactly the same group as Teacher's Edition on Hi. It's one of the better interviews on my site, definitely worth listening to. They were all schoolteachers (mostly music teachers) btw. 1
