Elvisluvs Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I hope this is ok- I searched through several pages . I am really only familiar by the weekly sales posting here. Could anyone share their experience? And would I assume if you had 1 or 2 decent 45's, you probably would not be in the auction. If any members would prefer anonymity, feel free to pm me thanks again-mark
dthedrug Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 HI ALL.......Not quite sure what you mean as your question is followed by your answer? however if you want to know if it's ok! to buy from, well 100% all items are packed and dispatched very fast, many bargains on the drop down auction and in his stock, main auction all depends on how much you want something, as it's very rare that any thing slips through these days, mind you i am no big fan of auctions DAVE
Elvisluvs Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Sorry Dave if I was a bit confuddled. I meant to sell through his auctions. Much appreciated-m
Pete S Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) If I couldn't sell or auction something myself I would ask John to sell it for me. Edited July 17, 2012 by Pete S 1
Guest in town Mikey Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I sold a couple of modern things I bought to sell on. The whole process can take a couple of months. But you know you will have no problem selling, and getting the money once the buyer has paid. Apart from the first time I sold with him, and the site crashed with 3 minutes to go or something, and wasnt up again until the next day. Which was a bit gaulling as many people hold off until the last minute. That has all been sorted now, and as far as I know it was a one off.
Shaun W Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Think he's increased his commission to 20% Which is reasonable, and fairly typical of auction house commission rates .If you have the right record, in the right condition and are selling at the right time then you are likely to achieve more through a JM auction than you would by other means - even after the deduction of commission. 1

I charge 20% for selling as well. Though 20% of £5 isn't a great amount. 2
Deepdown Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 John has auctioned quite a lot of my rarer records over the years and I have never had a problem of any kind.
Sheep Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Yes, have auction a few. You need to be preapred to wait around 2 months, as mentioned, to get paid, very slow, I mean slow to get paid, otherwise ok.
Dylan Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 John has auctioned a handfull of 45s for me and i've always been pleased with the service. where possibly I try to sell my own items as it helps to build up a better network of collectors to do future deals with both buying and selling.
Davebanks Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Have sold a few via Johns auctions and always pleased with the service and the price obtained. It seems to me John has the contacts/subscribers to reach a wide audience. Mind you have only sold Northern stuff via the auction. Dave Banks
Jimmy Mack Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 no problems at all great service and got fantastic prices for my tunes .
