Cheers Toby, if you could do a copy and send it to me in Harboro that would be dead handy. You can sit on Roger's table!

I have an audio cassette with Rich Searlings acetate "Rose Valentine" on, all i know for sure from memory that it is without doubt a pitch faster....not certain whether this is due to the original acetate or altered at the source..ie upon being played on the radio some 24 years ago.

Think it was speeded up ever so slightly.

It's the same as the Kent single. The one with the tambourines is the one I put on a CD for you in Sept 04.

Wow so the Kent single is the same as Searling's and different to the CD. I seem to remember we put a different version out on 45 to make it interesting. So people who remember the original as being slightly faster aren't remembering correctly then? It could have been something to do with the medicine they were on.

Thanks Ivor but Tats might be different to Searling's even if it was original as there were several takes and mixes.

have you spoken to gilly about this ady?

i'm sure i remember him telling me that when dave hamilton played him the master tape for the first time that it was much slower than richard's acetate

the flip of Gilly's has for about 20 seconds an instrumental version which suddenly stops, obviously doing a sound check or summat. It then kicks off again slightly faster for the full length of the song, just instrumental with bit of female backing and towards the end Little Ann comes in singoing "when he's not around what shall I do" repeating several times.

Not sure but think Gilly's differs slightly to the cd.

any chance of the tambourine cut posted?

Thanks chaps, we ended up with all the tapes that were there when Gilly was (thanks to him) so any speeding up must have been on the decks, though I don't think it needs it and it could be memories playing tricks. I'll post up the tambs version next week when I work out how to and I'm in the office.

Cheers

Ady
