Cheers Toby, if you could do a copy and send it to me in Harboro that would be dead handy. You can sit on Roger's table!
Simon T Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Searling's version, sorry it's a bit wobbly. It's from a tape with Chris Bartley c/u, Dee Dee Gartrell c/u and the Nurons, so must be the take Searling had?
Guest Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I have an audio cassette with Rich Searlings acetate "Rose Valentine" on, all i know for sure from memory that it is without doubt a pitch faster....not certain whether this is due to the original acetate or altered at the source..ie upon being played on the radio some 24 years ago. Brett
Ady Croasdell Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) Brett can you stick a copy in the post to the Harboro address, I might as well hear all of them. Thanks Simon, I ain't got sound here but I'll listen to it later. Edited January 5, 2006 by ady croasdell

Guest Ivor Jones Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Anyone got a sound copy of Searling's original, I need to know whether there's a lot more tambourines than on the version Kent put out? HELLO ADY! I THINK TATS HAS AN ORIGINAL ACETATE SO YOU COULD TRY HIM. THATS IF HE`S NOT OUT SAILING INTO LINCOLN.AHOY THERE TATS! ALL THE BEST,IVOR
Simon T Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Brett can you stick a copy in the post to the Harboro address, I might as well hear all of them. Thanks Simon, I ain't got sound here but I'll listen to it later. Ady It's the same as the Kent single. The one with the tambourines is the one I put on a CD for you in Sept 04.
Ady Croasdell Posted January 6, 2006 Author Posted January 6, 2006 Wow so the Kent single is the same as Searling's and different to the CD. I seem to remember we put a different version out on 45 to make it interesting. So people who remember the original as being slightly faster aren't remembering correctly then? It could have been something to do with the medicine they were on. Thanks Ivor but Tats might be different to Searling's even if it was original as there were several takes and mixes.

Chalky Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 pretty sure Richards was pitched at plus 2 for playing out, have it on tape and it sounds about that speed. listening to Gilly's now and no tambourines.
Chalky Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) the flip of Gilly's has for about 20 seconds an instrumental version which suddenly stops, obviously doing a sound check or summat. It then kicks off again slightly faster for the full length of the song, just instrumental with bit of female backing and towards the end Little Ann comes in singoing "when he's not around what shall I do" repeating several times. Not sure but think Gilly's differs slightly to the cd. any chance of the tambourine cut posted? Edited January 6, 2006 by chalky
Ady Croasdell Posted January 6, 2006 Author Posted January 6, 2006 Thanks chaps, we ended up with all the tapes that were there when Gilly was (thanks to him) so any speeding up must have been on the decks, though I don't think it needs it and it could be memories playing tricks. I'll post up the tambs version next week when I work out how to and I'm in the office. Cheers Ady
