Pete S Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) Just found this, wonder what you think, nothing special but quite pleasant and incredibly obscure...presume from about 1963 https://www.divshare.com/download/18703782-0d1 Edited July 9, 2012 by Pete S
Soul-slider Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I like that. Who is it? I only had it on low volume 'cos the mother-in-law is around gabbing on...
Pete S Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 I like that. Who is it? I only had it on low volume 'cos the mother-in-law is around gabbing on... Well I didn't really want to say before I got one myself
Pete S Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 I'll give it away on the promise that if it goes big, I discovered it https://www.ebay.com/itm/62-TOP-SOUND-45-HORACE-FAITH-YOU-NEVER-SAID-YOU-LOVED-ME-COME-RAIN-OR-SHINE-/150850680799?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item231f66b7df#ht_817wt_1151 I wasn't going to pay that asking price
Pete S Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 nice tune . a pearl of a tune even. A man of taste. You still living in Tonbridge Kim? I'll be there on friday. At the Crematorium unfortunately. But if you're at a loose ends and enjoy funerals and the p*ss up later...LOL

boba Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 It sounds like a decent song. Does it really have the sound that can become "big"? It's very sparse, which works when there's a heavy beat, but this has almost no beat to it.

There are hundreds of these Jamaican midtempo soul things out there but only one has really gone massive (Glen Miller).
Guest MissHongkongfuey Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Just listening to it now.....it's just lovely!!
Pete S Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 I'll put the other side up when I get back from the school run..

I don't know anything about Jamaican records (although I do know something about other "island" records...) but I have heard some killer straight sweet soul harmony records. One of them was the Wailers, I was surprised. I'm too obsessive and completist to get into collecting one more thing, but they are nice when I hear them.
Pete S Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 as promised https://www.divshare.com/download/18785890-7c5

Not surprised, the Wailers made some fantastic soulful records 1964-66, all this tends to get overlooked
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I don't know anything about Jamaican records (although I do know something about other "island" records...) but I have heard some killer straight sweet soul harmony records. . Reggae trio the Tamlins made some lovely sweet soul sides before they crossed over to their indigenous music and its rhythm. Their 1974 version of 'Thick And Thin' on Ja. Lion is actually better than Anacostia's original. They also did a very nice version (again in a soul style) of Pete Wingfield's 'Eighteen With A Bullet'....
Guest Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) very nice indeed Edited July 12, 2012 by Paul Royle
