Guest Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Being a mainly 60's/70's collector, i must admit that my ignorance on many new releases is on level 10, but one of the reasons i do enjoy a venue like Martin "Cunnie" Dixon's and Errol Green's Modernism is that it gives me a chance to hear records/cd's that i would never usually hear. I must admit that not all such tracks fit into my vein of consciousness, but i do like to listen to such sounds and then make a judgement. Ps..Whats that Belgian guy with the beard that did a pretty decent CD last year.....sorry Roger you may have mentioned him in that list. Brett
Guest Dodger Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Brilliant list Dodger whan you coming back up to see us at Morecambe we have beers for you and im sure charlie has a spare bed happy new year from The Seaside Soul Club www.seasidesoul.co.uk Alright Sean, happy new year to you and the boyo's as well, all being well I was hoping for a visit in January but because now I've said it it's bound to jinx it!! Ps..Whats that Belgian guy with the beard that did a pretty decent CD last year.....sorry Roger you may have mentioned him in that list. Brett Nobody Belgian springs to mind I'm afraid, Brett?
Guest Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Possibly (as usual) got the Belgian element totally wrong, but i know John May mentioned it to me last year, then around a month later Cunnie played it to me at Modernism.........Good track to. Brett
Cunnie Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Possibly (as usual) got the Belgian element totally wrong, but i know John May mentioned it to me last year, then around a month later Cunnie played it to me at Modernism.........Good track to. Brett Bloody hell Brett, ya got me scratching my head now. Don't think i've played anything Belgium in the last year or anything by a guy with a beard for that matter. Great list by the way Dodger, don't think there's much i can add to that lot. Keep up the good work mate
Guest Dodger Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Cheers Mart! Only Belgian thing I can think of is Funky Boudoir and that version of Never Knew Love Like This?
Petebangor Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Alright Sean, happy new year to you and the boyo's as well, all being well I was hoping for a visit in January but because now I've said it it's bound to jinx it!! Nobody Belgian springs to mind I'm afraid, Brett? Unam ??? Isn't he French or from that part of Europe ???? He was very good at the Hilton Pete
Cunnie Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Cheers Mart! Only Belgian thing I can think of is Funky Boudoir and that version of Never Knew Love Like This? Not that Roger. Brett tends to get a bit mixed up sometimes. He was probably eating some Belgian chocolates with a picture of Father Christmas on the box lid
Supercorsa Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Not that Roger. Brett tends to get a bit mixed up sometimes. He was probably eating some Belgian chocolates with a picture of Father Christmas on the box lid He was more than likely just drinking the liquers, out of the belgian chocolates...
Guest Dodger Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Prominent 'Step Into My World' - they're Swedish and the bloke on the front of the CD has a beard. Getting warm yet? One of the women who work at Playground Music, their record company has an unfortunate name - Lovisa Wanker - seriously, I bet she can't wait to get wait to get married and get rid of that monicker!!!!
Sunnysoul Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Just heard a bit of the new "comeback" CD from Latin Soul legend Joe Bataan , sounds very tasty... has anyone heard it ??
