Guest Timothy Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 hi this is my first post. i have been off the scene for many years, but i bumped into an old friend who used to be on the northern soul scene & she told me about this website. i still have a few records that i kept as favourites, just wondering how much a caressors & ree flores would be worth these days. could anybody possibly help. kind regards Timothy
Guest Dan Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 caressors about 225 ree flores about 300 only my guesses though
Gene-r Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) I would say Ree Flores would be more like £1,000 these days (and £1,500 for the Little Willie Falk version). Also heard an inkling that the Caressors is now selling for the high three-figures. Is this correct? Edited January 5, 2006 by Gene-R

Also heard an inkling that the Caressors is now selling for the high three-figures. Is this correct? Caressors is in the mid to high hundreds 5-7 I would think but Ree Flores is no where near £1000 IMHO. James Trouble may confirm how much he gave for his copy but I just missed out on one at $500 (by half an hour apparently) in November '05 so £500 would be fair to me. Mind you I am looking for one so I guess I would say that This one is if it is for sale is bad timing for me anyway If your in doubt Tim auction them on ebay let the market decide
Marc Forrest Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 You ould struggle to get a Ree Flores for anything under 800 UKP nowadays me thinks...The Caressors sould in the lat six months several times on ebay for around 250 UKP. Marc

Dave Rimmer Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Also heard an inkling that the Caressors is now selling for the high three-figures. Is this correct? One copy went on Ebay for £910

In reality Ree Flores is a solid £1000. That's not IMO, that is the fact that there are £1000 bids in the market.

A friend tried to move one for that sort of price, no takers as I recall. £900 max but still overpriced, had a sudden wild hike for no good reason and has created an unrealistic expectation among some buyers/sellers as to price ($900/£500 ish much more appropriate). Great record mind, and not funk at all

Great record mind, and not funk at all Funny old game, those that don't have the record but want it say that they think that it is worth £500 but those that have it won't sell for less than £1000. Oh, and it is funk, and it is better than Little Willie faulk.
Ged Parker Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Sorry to be arguementative but why because someone lists a record for $500 and it sells in 2 seconds flat mean that the record is really worth £500? In reality Ree Flores is a solid £1000. That's not IMO, that is the fact that there are £1000 bids in the market. I don't think thats arguementative at all. In fact the seller had had the copy on sale for over a week but it just so happened that he could have sold it twice in the space of half an hour. I didn't ask him how many enquiries he had had before that. As a rule of thumb, and this is probably just me, when I buy from the states I will not pay more in dollars than I think it's worth in UK£. This does mean I miss out on some items I want but I accepted a long time ago that I'll never own every record I want in any case. I seem to remember someone (James I think but apologies if I'm wrong there) stating the then book value of RF on a funk forum and offering to pay double that for a ex or better copy but that still wasn't £1000 mind you that was a wile ago The only true way to decide a value as I said in my original post to Tim is to auction it. Just because there have been £1000 bids in the past does not mean that there will be every time its up for auction. Take a look at the Cautions on Shrine and it's value. I sold one for £1,150 just last year yet one copy went through on ebay at $570 (£310) a couple of months later. Money can be tight in Jan so not a good time to auction records anyway but it may be the fact that money is tight for some people that some big money sounds become available then? If I ever get to own a Ree Flores I can gurantee that I will not have paid more than £500 and if that means I never own one, life will just have to go on.
Marc Forrest Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 seen 3 sell on Ebay at $900 $1652 and $1619 respectively Dazz So I really should gone for one of the less expensive ones on ebay
Ted Massey Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Funny old game, those that don't have the record but want it say that they think that it is worth £500 but those that have it won't sell for less than £1000. Oh, and it is funk, and it is better than Little Willie faulk. I had both records and you could hardly tell the difference between them, LWF is on vinyl thou the other on styrene, LWF 10 times rarer, neither is worth whats been quoted on here because its another one of those hyped up records.wish i still had the LWF i could make some real money T

Don`t think it is a case of a hyped record, personally I really think that this is amongst Little Tommy a tested SOULFUL Northern 45 which has and always will stand the test of time. Did I say I already mention like it ?
Chalky Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Rees Flores IMHO shpould be around £800 but some are willing to pay more, why I dunno Oh and funk my arse Caressors should be in the real world £350, used to sel for this and less but again folk wiling to pay more and the price rose a fair bit. If I was selling it would probably be £750.

If I was selling it would probably be £750. Come on Chalky, of course it's funk. It's syncopated, like a James Brown record. It's nothing like Frank Wilson or Motown. More in common with James Brown than anything by the Supremes. What do you know about funk anyway?
