Guest Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Allnighters, Soulful type of records you can dance to, and amphetamines. Thats what Northern Soul was built on! Maybe not now but in it's hayday!
Tezza Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Awesome. Is this after a night on the piss with the mates ?? Are we talking about Music in general or are we just talking bollocks. The whole ethos behind the Northern Soul culture is ... Oh whats the point !! By the way. Northern Soul was never a body of music that needed to constantly change or evolve, only for those who had had enough and sort out change for changes sake.

Guest manusf3a Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Oh and all the people of the night from up and down the land who shared that something special, and words, what words can truely describe those times and those feelings from then and now when you hear "northern soul",
Guest manusf3a Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 If it wasnt for green and clears And red and browns There wouldnt have been so many highs More like lots more downs Lots more tired yawns Tired sleepy heads at 3 oclock Sitting round waiting for those dawns Im just glad I was born to block!
Greety Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Was there ever a better feeling then standing on a dance floor at three in the morning. When suddenly you hear the opening notes of one of your favourites. You're already wide awake but those few seconds of music take you to an even better place! In the words of Mastercard, PRICELESS. 1
Guest manusf3a Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 As most of us know there hardly seemed enough hours in the night for before you knew it it was eight o clock, you had spent the night dancing ,verballing, plotting, meeting up with folk from round the land ,one thing used to piss me off a bit,not to much though, as there was always lots to do ,to much to dwell on this bad point (to me a bad point),I used to think what the hell are they doing! whenever I saw people sleeping round the dancefloor.I remember one night at Cleethorpes when it was choca at both the pier and winter gardens,in the wintergardens there seemed to be quite a few sleeping in bunches round the place, yeh as we know dance floor heaving ,sounds blasting from the decks, theyre sleeping ,or making out to be looked like a few more than usual. It might sound a bit cruel but at the time I thought it poetic justice ,I spotted Snottyr.i.p Mick you were a legend, coming towards us,he was looking at us and navigating his way in a straight line to rejoin our company as he had wandered off earlier,he was doing his helicpter walk, smashed on a horse would die if given dose of caps and pills, looking straight ahead he walked over the top of anything in his way, which happened to be a bunch of horizontal folk who he brushed aside as like the bow of a destroyer leaving a wake behind.I remember thinking at the time next time you come to an all nighter get some gear down you if you dont like being trampled on.However much older I now know there is a place at all nighters for those who do not indulge and good on them but to me then all nighter and straight didnt go together.I also know it may be different these days but I sincerely hope that orwellian fashion a massive push to santise the past of the scene does not take place,it was what it was and thats what made it what it means to so many.
