Guest Brooky Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) Clara Hardy - I Dream of You - Tuna Prices back up it seems........ There was a glut of these a couple of years back and the prices dropped right down I recall.......low as £100 - £150. Someone predicted that prices would go up again after a while....looks like they may have been correct!!! One went for £425 quid on eBay last night....or is that a flash in the pan perhaps? Chalky Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Prices have risen steadily on this since the find dried up. Case of supply and demand rather than rarity dictating the price.
Supercorsa Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I was watching this on Ebay out of interest to see what it went for, £400+ , glad I got mine of that college seller for about £90 from a couple of years back. When I looked yesterday there was also a VG- copy on there at $9.99 with no bids, be interesting to see what that goes for, might be abit more realistic price. If not and that goes for a few hundred, i may have to auction mine through John Manship .
Johnmcc Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Take a look at the bids. It rises to about £200 but finishes at double that due to 2 bidders with relatively low ratings. Dodgy or 2 competitive, keen, new collectors?
paultp Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I've always thought this was a dull repetitive record which is further spoilt by an awful twangy guitar bit. Also brings out the worst in me from the point of view that it was sought after before the find when it went for 2K = everyone wants it; then dropped to £100 = nobody wants it, now going back up = sought after again. I appreciate that some people like it, and good on them for getting a copy if that's what they want. But surely you either like the record or you don't regardless of price? 3
boba Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 the four tracks is back up in price too (not $4000 though). whenever quantity of something comes out people get scared and the price drops signficantly. it takes a while of no copies being out there for demand to build back up again.

Raised the issue because of the massive price fluctuation over the years....personally it's not one I would ever seek out but as you say, some people like it.
Spook Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Well, I like it and i'm glad i bought a copy when the price bottomed, and i ain't gonna sell it cos it's gone up.
Keithw Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) yes - people always come out with the line " oh theyve turned up " look at the betty lloyd - as an e.g ------ everyone had em for about 75-00 - not now oxford knights / four tracks / danny moore / rev george morton/ joe valentine / athens rogues even some lesser biggies were in Domars soul packs - boss four etc as a sweetner think people see prices goin up a bit then think there loads better sell - which means more in market so drives the idea that theres loads would of liked a oxford knights - but i missed out on that Edited June 29, 2012 by keithw
Reg Scott Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 When the price dropped for Clara Hardy most predicted it wouldnt rise too much because of the find but it's a steadily popular tune which is proving to be a decent buy when they were around the 100 mark and the ones I saw were all shiny minty nice. I may be in the minority but I find it a very pleasant piece of soul music.

Even for people calling it garbage, the appeal of the tune to others should be clear in that it has the "rare detroit sound" in its production.
