Chris L Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I couldn't find the previous thread about people who'd bought records thinking it was top notch single only to find they'd paid for a lemon....... Here's one you'd need to read carefully before parting with hard earned cash
Peter99 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Back in the early 80's I'm sure Sam used to play a record which I thought was either by Masters Plan and or entitled Do I have to Dance All Night. I did in fact purchase a record by Maters Plan called Do I have to Dance all Night - but I'm sure it wasn't the same record that Sam used to play.

Here's one you'd need to read carefully before parting with hard earned cash That's funny - wonder if a few people fell for that before the days of the net?
Godzilla Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I suppose Del Capris on Kama Sutra / Ronjerdon is an obvious one. I remember someone in the back bar at W*gan who bit my arm off for a copy of The Nights - Let There Be Love on Liittle Star. He kept furtively looking at the flipside...
Codfromderby Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) just bought a copy of a jackie wilson 45 that i thought was that supposed james bond thing "way to die", got it and its an early 70,s chi lites type track, oh well, the most talked about one is tom jones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NwZDZFhkEo still some people claim to have heard the bobby sheen song Edited June 27, 2012 by codfromderby

Here's one you'd need to read carefully before parting with hard earned cash Nice one Chris! This one pops up quite often here in Germany. I almost had a heart attack the first time I saw it! Nowadays whenever I see it it just raises my pulse for a second
Guest Gogs Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 [media=] Like both of these but big price difference (manny's 5th guide), so well spotted.
Guest Gogs Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 also got to watch out for these with the same title https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/52009/FLETCHER,_DARROW https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/50511/DESHANNON,_JACKIE There are others but only went for the ones with a northern interest
Guest Dave Turner Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Like both of these but big price difference (manny's 5th guide), so well spotted. Can't find a clip but The Younghearts "A Little Togetherness" on Minit is totally different to the Canterbury.

Nowadays whenever I see it it just raises my pulse for a second I get the impression that this a Germany only single release I couldn't see it on the UK or US CP discography, what were they thinking ?
Peter99 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Master Plan - Do I have to dance all night - Amani Central Power System - Master's Plan - Ajana I'll check the CPS out later Simon. Thanks
Chris L Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Can't find a clip but The Younghearts "A Little Togetherness" on Minit is totally different to the Canterbury. The Minit release comes from their album "Sweet Soul Shakin'" there's a version of the Tempos "Countdown here I come" not surprising the 2 groups intermingled under the auspiciousness of the intrepid Bobby Sanders. Neither are like the Canterbury productions, same choons though.

Sjclement Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 (edited) It might be due to my advancing years but quite often I've had to do a double take of Darrow Fletcher's What good am I without you and What have I got now there is several pounds price difference between the two!!! Countdown on Minit is a good tune in its own right there's also a good (slow) version of Tend to Buissness Edited June 28, 2012 by sjclement
Peter99 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Central Power System - Master's Plan - Ajana anyone got a clip or link to this track please? I can't find it on you tube. thanks Peter
Sebastian Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 anyone got a clip or link to this track please? I can't find it on you tube. Soundclip can be found on Manship's site: https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/154836/CENTRAL_POWER_SYSTEM It's a pity that the vocal wailings are so out of tune. 1

Dobber Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 both versions are on delval, the cheap one is a dark blue label, the dear one and best is on the light blue label design with the bell on it.

DerekG Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I bought a J.J.Caillier - Pusherman on what must have been a 70's re-cut - Awful version
Dave Fleming Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Natural Four's - "I Thought You Were Mine" - ABC or Boola Boola One is for the nighter crowd and dancer's the other for the chin scratcher's and collector's, personally i'm ABC all the way........but which one are you?? One was 70s and the other 60s,and i prefer the 60s orig version. Dave f.......
Dazdakin Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Yes it is the original version and each to their own.......don't stop it from being inferior in every way to the re-worked 70's version though and the fact that i don't think i have ever heard the original version played out........ever. Not 100% sure if the re-worked cut is even 70's?? it was taken from their 1970 album "Good Vibes" which would suggest it was recorded back end of 1969??
grouse Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 isnt the colt 45's lady lady a lot slower on the record as to the version on the for millionaires cd? Don't know about the CD, but the record is **kin fast........
