i have built up a chart for my own use as a guide based on

1) the numbers reduced in the 70`s and previous history

2) the records in my collection

3) tom kline book SOUL HARMONY

4) ray barretts book MOTOWN. both these books give release dates

5) the months i took as a range/starting point again based on general info. for example if i had 3 records starting with 88000 but the numbers related to setember, oct and november i gave them all the same OCT so as not to make it bigger than ben hur

6) Various discographies

here is what i use from 1970 to 1975 and is not concise. if anyone has any other info around this then please, i really would welcome your constructve help. feel free to PM me i would really appreciate that. information i would like is the artist, song title, label and delta number (any genre) i am aware that a lot of missing numbers may come from other genres of music.

1970 jan 79800 jun 82000 oct 83500

1971 jan 84600 jun 87000 oct 88000

1972 jan 90500 jun 92345 oct 94567

1973 jan 95600 jun 96000 oct 97000

1975 jan 97500 jun 98000 oct 99000

1976 jan 99700

remember these are only estimates and it is a work in progress. i dont know if or when they stopped.

with this info and the rca dating system and those of capitol, decca, coral and bruswick .... i reckon that the heght of northern soul recordings come from a period of around 1966 to 1969. anyone any other info to refute this !! obviously there are others from other years but from my research this is the peek period. hope this helps.
