I think Gary Rusbrooke as well Chalky. With this one, Willie Tee and the Stran etc. We were all knackered before they opened up the main room most weeks.

Same as you Joan...thought this had been around a lot longer...in fact I put it on an "oldies" Cd a week or so ago, that I did for one of my friends who used to go to Wigan etc.....thinking he would know it :g:

It was the very early eighties for this. Possibly '81, but I think '82.

Gary Rusbrooke who was the first person I heard play it, although someone else could have been before him - I bought one pretty soon after I heard it (less than a week!). I definately had it before July 82, as this was when the Cavendish started.

Cheers

Agree, was Gary 'upstairs' where I first heard it.

What a tremendous beat-ballad flipside as well!

Oddly enough I found a black stocker over here a few weeks ago...which was nice.

Yeh, I always got confused with the two similar titles. I used to have 'That's My Girl' on a British Verve label, wish I'd kept that.

The other side to 'That Girl' is - 'If It's For Real Baby' - An absolutely beautiful record, Teddy Randazzo penned.

All the best,

Len.
