It seems to be in demand on the sweet / group / lowrider scene. Des parker sold me a copy some years ago at Albrighton and he told me that he found the record in the same projects area in Columbus as where the Chandlers came from. Jordi
Guest Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Picked it up £40 a while back, mainly buy just sweet and deep now belive the group was also The Four Buddies
boba Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Picked it up £40 a while back, mainly buy just sweet and deep now belive the group was also The Four Buddies it was a $25-$40 record, then price shot up due to sweet soul collectors. This is one of the first records that I remember being like WTF? when the price shot up.
Guest Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 One hell of a crappy fade out on this one. Agree if your quick flipping it over its not so bad 1
Jordirip Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Agree if your quick flipping it over its not so bad Why they couldn't put the two parts together on one side i'll never know. Part two is a killer side but it needs part one. Part one just fades out with no logic.
Guest stonedsoul Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 this is not the same group as the four buddies, however they are the same group as the strivers band who recorded love episode, originally they were from louisville but later moved to minneapolis

There are loads Bob, but there's also loads that do fit a good long track on one side, take the Soul Crusaders on LuTall for a start. I wonder why some studios decide to go with full tracks and others decide to split them up. Perhaps there was nothing to put on a flip?

Perhaps there was nothing to put on a flip? no, long 45s aren't good. they are pressed at a low volume and sound bad. Any marks / wear makes them unplayable as instead of light crackle it will be crackle that overwhelms the music. Long LPs suck too. the other reason the a-side is short is because it's a radio edit. they would not play a 7 minute long song on r&b radio
Guest stonedsoul Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 yeah patrick knight was one of the members that i talked to, he still lives in the area, he told me stories about the group and shared all his pictures/posters with me, nice guy! in fact he gave me a promo picture of the group which had their bio on the flipside, i'll try and post it up later on for everyone
Guest stonedsoul Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 here's the picture of the godfather strivers/strivers show band i was given with their bio on the flipside!
