Recommended Posts

ssssh , let keep that last rant to ourselves as i ve now recognised my little oversight of about a fortnight or so . Which should have given you ample time to return to tip top condition even when factoring in the ageing process. So its still your round by the way. ! At least you wont be mithered for tuneage this weekend.See yees later . andy challis ( dy,s carer).

Andy

Didn't like to say ...........but keep up :D

See you in the Blue Post (Newman Street) if you make it in time if not at the go-go

Cheers

Its not what i thought it was going to be.although i think the tune im thinking of might be called" its everything about you". or at least thats how the chorus goes.Theres something about the intro that im ambivalent about. So i can see why you had second thoughts about it later.( i know that feeling dispiritingly well) I like his voice though.

Andy

You might be thinking of Curtis Smith-How High Can I Fly/Living End Essica

Staying with the modern stuff for me, and more of a soulful house tune I guess, (this version anyway - but all the versions are excellent) but it does find its way into a couple of "modern" sets, and is championed by the lovely Sandi Harpin, who played it just for me at my daughters wedding reception on Saturday...

:hatsoff2: HI ALL....IF you have stopped selling records, as I have (almost)? after a while you get around to rediscovering it , the record I have got for you to-night has 2 excellent sides, my fave side is "love made me blue" but the chosen side is a Funk organ number, this sort of record is for the purest of you, who can get into the groove thang! and almost a dead cert, this is will grow on you if it' be to you.

On the SHARP RECORDS - RUSS LEWIS - "BRAND NEW RECIPE - 6040 B. Rated **** Value £? can't remember so £25?

:g: I hope you like the organ in this, as it's supreme stuff  DAVE

I am currently in touch with Russ who now lives on the west coast (though he has been rebuilding his house for about a year so its difficult to get too much out of him on his 1960's / 70's music biz activities).

After he cut this 45 he got more into writing songs & running his own studio / label (Gold Future of St Louis).

Russ Lewis' 1st real commercial success in the music world was as co-writer of "Groovy Situation" which Gene Chandler took into the R&B Top 10 / Pop Top 20 in mid 1970. With the money he made, he established his studio & named it after the label he was already running (Gold Future).

Michael (Love)Smith's 1st record (with his family group, the Smith Brothers / Smith Connection) was released on Gold Future in 1970; "Check Me Out".

Kent Washburn used the 8 track equiped studio quite a bit, cutting the likes of Fontella Bass, Tyrone Perry, Jamal Trice (Motown) & some 'outside projects' there. One of those outside projects was by the Stimulation which escaped on Hi-Stepping as a 45 in 1975 ...... "Magic Touch of Love" .......
