John Moffatt Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 (edited) Not had for 2 years but looks ok? I thought the real label was Galliant, not Gallant. There are various labels all called Gallant, but none had a 1000 numbering series? Edited June 18, 2012 by John Moffatt
Steve Foran Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Anglo American have it listed as shown on ebay. Gallant and 1001. £50 on their site if thats any help.
John Moffatt Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 Anglo American have it listed as shown on ebay. Gallant and 1001. £50 on their site if thats any help. If you check on YouTube, both labels are represented. The differences are small. It's just that I read somewhere recently about this, and wondered if anyone could come up with a definitive answer.
Robbk Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 That looks real to me. The raised label area looks like the original style, the label script and font looks real, and not reproduced from a photo. There could easily have been a mis-spelling of Galliant done on one of the pressings of the original issue. That occurred many times in those days, especially with labels with names that are easy to mis-spell. I'd bet that that is original.
John Moffatt Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 Ok fellas. Thanks very much for all your contributions - much appreciated.
Mick Sway Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 https://www.ebay.co.u...=item19d146b714 FYI There are three variations of this issue on Popsike: https://www.popsike.com/GALLIANT-1001LITTLE-JIMMY-RAYYOU-NEED-TO-FALL-IN-LOVE/390339037224.html None have the "Gallant" spelling of the record label. One has a larger type face with no "vocal" and no double horizontal bars, the others are similar, but not the same as the current Ebay item, making four variations if you include the "Gallant" spelling. No description include references to matrix numbers or the type of plastic. Interesting, but I couldn't say anymore than that. Best Mick
Chalky Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 It would be nice if a bit more information could be given in the topic title and maybe a scan added to the original post, for future reference. I've amended the title and added the scan this time.

Are you looking on the same Popsike site as me? Because there are several with the 'Gallant' spelling where I looked... https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=little+jimmy+ray&x=0&y=0
Guest posstot Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 All good info. Thank very much. John I Had a Gallant copy, i then sold it on, or sent it back, not too sure now. For the reason that, i was told it was a Belgium pressing. Unfortunately, it appears Galliant was a name change from Gallant...that both copies are in fact originals. I will try and dig out the info from somewhere, as this has been discussed before. Mike

Mike Thanks Mike. This is proving more difficult than I imagined. I've passed up any number of 'Gallants' 'cos I thought they were all pressings, but not come across a 'Galliant' in reasonable nick for a reasonable price. Such is the fun of searching for records :-). John
