steve z Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) IS NOT..........called "lonely girl" and was never released...VIRTUE acetate only Stevie Z Edited December 30, 2005 by steve z
Simon T Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 would have thought it was called Lonely Boy, if anything. Where does 'Wayne Harrel' come into it?
Mike Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 IS NOT..........called "lonely girl" and was never released...VIRTUE acetate only Stevie Z anymore info Stevie ? yeah thought lonely boy as well, but ongoing work on the refosoul libary engine has meant havent got round to the final check of all titles so theres more than a few titles which may need a check think its come from tape, possibly a old soul up north one ?
TheBigO Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I think theres a scan of the label and some info on it in one of the fanzines I have in the crates so will check. Hand written label with the name on it, hence Wayne Harnell.
Chalky Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Lonely Boy, the answer to Eric Mercury is a Jobete recording isn't it. Where is the sound clip Stevie Z is talking about so I can have a listen.

Hi Mike,I obtained the acetate from Des Parker some time ago. Steve Green gave me the History about how it was discovered years ago and its path to me . It is all hand written as - "lonely boy by Wane Harrel "on yellow and black Virtue acetate The other side is " end of time by Wane Harrel" again yellow black. This side is a very nice ballad IMO Assured by those in its history it is probably the only one? It was I believe as, you state Mike, put onto a few tapes some while ago.Des told me he had never got around to playing "Wane" out anywhere . Whoever put the sound up has not put any info about themselves so I cannot trace any more about it as yet. Perhaps a response to this post from them may shed some more info ALL the Best for the New Year .Stevie Z
Guest Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 The Brenda Holloway version of Lonely Girl is proper "wet yer knickers" music. Alas this sound clip is not it! Pete Lowrie used to play it (if I threatened to set fire to his trousers). I do have it on a tape somewhere - recorded when he did a session of unissued motown stuff on Richard Searlings show long before Jazz FM. I think it was from the late 80's. Anyway when I find it, and if I can ever work out how to put sounds on this stupid computer I will put up a clip. Or if someone knows what they are doing and live nearby - just pop in and do it for me! By the way, Eric Mercury IS my all time favourite record... bits of me are beginning to throb just thinking about it!

Guest Netspeaky Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Had this liitle info from dealer in Philadelphia, Wane Harrel acetate was recorded in late 60's or early 70's , and he also had a Virtue 45 under the name Robin Hood in 1983 - why he waited so long is a mystery? not much but a little add on none the less. Anybody know the Robin Hood track?
