:(Right now for some fun, who's going to admit they secretly have a soft spot for a tune that you know you would get slated for on this forum, or at least think you will, you never know someone might actually agree with you. Any way we don't want anyone getting ohmy.gif about the choices, it's fun item :D not to be taken seriously :good: I start off with a couple of tune to get it going :(

Gary Lewis & the Playboys - My HeartsSymphony (Not even a Soul record, but kinda sums the early pop tunes that were played in the Casino, which I danced my heart out to.) :(

The Vogues - That's The Tune (Another pop record that sums up all those good time pop tunes that have been played on our scene over the years, still hum along when I hear it.) wicked.gif

Remember I don't want anyone slagging each others choices off, it's just FUN theme, and please add WHY it has a soft spot with you, as this is your get out clause. :( Let the fun begin :(

Yeah, even though I've never been fond of it myself.

BTW, I cant see the smilies on screen, so forget the angry one, thabwas a mistake.

Stev

Personly i've always loved it! but like i say its a pop record, when it was made i would have thought this was being aimed to a wide auidence, it has all the make ups of a popular record, so its pop in my eyes, but like i said Jerry does sing it with with emotion, which is in my eyes soul,,,,,,,,Its pop soul ohmy.gif

Baz, I wasn't having a go. To me, its one of those 'revered classics'.(Even tho it does little for me) But I wouldn't class it as 'pop', certainly in the way Mark seemed to mean when starting the thread.

After all. virtually every record made was made with the intention of reaching a wider audience surely ?

Horse's for courses, Pop to me soul to some one else, there is no right or wrong.

I agree with you and Ken about the virtually every record made was trying to be pop yes, suppose i didn't explain my self clearly enough, i still cant explain properly why i think its pop, if i was stood next to some one in the same room and it was on yes i could pointing out this and that but, its alot harder on here yes.gif

Ive known about pj proby for years but never heard it, after all these years of not hearing finally its BLOODY AWFULL !!, but thanks for putting it up  , need to go now and play my secret fave tune over many years, "on a magic carpet ride" by kiki dee, followed by the first record i ever heard at an all dayer "green door" by wynder k frog, still play both of them at home at least once a week, and still get tingles when i hear them

3rd Window , Interplay, Youre ready now, Red light spells danger :)

I guess Franki Valli would be considered naff but then there's "Opus 17"."You're ready now", "Im gonna change" and "You're gonna [hurt yourself]. "The night" is a step too far!!

ROD

Just been watching BBC2, the word 'naff' may not mean what you thought it did :)
