I recently started a sales list. My goal is to sell quality records that I personally enjoy (and if I am selling a record I don't like for some reason I'll say so). I also try to highlight under-the-radar titles that are good, in all price ranges. I want to primarily sell to people on my sales list that are interested and will only post the leftovers after all the direct-list sales have cleared. I sent my first list out a few weeks ago, all transactions are complete, so here are the remaining records. They still are quality records and a few of them I had multiple copies of which is why they still appear below.

If you want to get on my email list for future sales lists, send me a message at sitpsales@gmail.com. I am planning to send out a new list in a week or two. The list will focus on female artists / groups.

To reserve a record, I prefer that you send an email to sitpsales@gmail.com. Thanks in advance for your interest.

-------

Postage: US (includes delivery confirmation) - $3.50, for one 45, 25 cents for each additional 45.

Overseas (first class international) - $7 for one 45, $1 for each additional 45.

I am not trying to make money on postage and will refund the difference if charged postage is ever a dollar or more than actual postage; however, I'm not checking every postal receipt so you would have to notice it on arrival and ask me.

Grading: Grading scale: NM/VG++/VG+/VG/VG-/G+/G/G-/F/P. Since people don't all grade consistently, I tried to describe flaws in any lesser graded items in more detail. A NM record should be very clean and have only one or two marks at most. A VG++ record should be similar with a few more marks. A VG record should still have full or very close to full surface gloss. There should be no feelable marks -- it might have moderate surface scratching or scuffing that generally won't affect play. All records should play fine, even G and lower, unless specific problems are noted.

Returns: If you get a record and there is a problem, you can return it for a full refund.

Payment: Paypal preferred. My paypal address is boba@panix.com. Will take US personal checks or money orders if you wait for the check to clear.

Numonics - It's so easy to be misled / (Got to give love) one more try - Hodisk - NM - $15

Killer falsetto harmony, from Oakland from 1983 but sounds 10 years earlier. Note that there is a clip on youtube but it is a different version, here is audio of the actual record:

Child of Friendship Train Robbers (C.O.F.T.R.) - Jackie - Natural Records - $60 - VG++ due to some weird perpendicular scuffing on each side NAP

Exact same cut as on Boblo as the Train Robbers but much cheaper. I think this is the first press but I'm not 100%. I'm pretty sure this record is late 70s, but it almost sounds early 80s to me -- it's still real instruments and an analog only synth, it just has an ahead-of-its-time feel for me (especially in the harmony). I used to not like this style of record but now I really do after getting into indie 80s records. I don't currently have one for sale, but the Train Robbers have a killer 70s sweet soul cut called "Will you answer" if you want a more early 70s sound.

Procedures - Mirror Mirror / inst. - Tra-Mor - NM - $35

Totally excellent mid-70s Chicago sweet soul cut, featuring not only the Procedures (previously known as the Soul Procedures) but also a cool Tom Tom arrangement played by the Curtom studio musicians, top Chicago session players.

Funkhouse Express - Day by Day (long) / (short) - Polydor DJ - NM - $35

Funkhouse Express - Day by Day / Funkhouse Theme - Polydor stock in Polydor sleeve - NM - $40

This is the group's only sweet record, but it's really good -- spacey falsetto sweet soul. Unknown, totally off the radar of most sweet soul collectors and hard to find. The stock copy is more expensive because it's much harder to find (as with most Polydor 45s) but may be less desirable if you only want sweet sides.

Impalas - I can't see me without you - Red Boy - VG - $10

Really nice spacey falsetto sweet soul from this White group from Brooklyn. This is the first of the 3 labels that it came out on.

C# Sharp - My turn to shine - Rock-Candy - NM, one corner fold in pic sleeve - $40

One of the greatest 80s sweet soul 45s. This youtube clip is of the 12" but it sounds the same as the 45 to me.

Chosen Few - I'm alone - Faces - NM - $80

Despite being on a Shreveport, LA label, this group is actually a later version of the Significants from Florida. Another "grower" record that took me a few listens to get into; I like it a lot.

One Hundred Dollar Bill - Can't get you out of my mind - Dollar Bill - NM - $50

A relatively recent "discovery" to most sweet soul collectors. This is a female group from New York from 1981 but has an indie, low-fi type of sound, more 70s sounding than 80s. The record is nice; if they were better singers it would be a monster. This is uncleaned dead stock, will play better if I clean it.

Errol Gaye and the Imaginations - You don't want my love / Love and affection - Steel Town - NM - $20

A Cleveland group; A-side is a nice sweet soul ballad, to me it sort of has a similar feel to the Four Tracks on Note. Rob Sevier, Numero Group co-owner, says about You don't want my love, "This is extraordinary." He said that unprompted, really. It totally did not relate to me putting it in this list. It does have a really nice kiddie lead also, at first it sounds like a woman singing but it's not. Flip is a nice modern cut. I like both sides, but probably not as much as Rob.

You don't want my love:

Love and Affection:

Four Mints - Why did I go / Can't get strung out - Capsoul - weak VG (almost full gloss but some bigger surface scuff marks on each side), plays great - $45

This is the Four Mints record with the very hard to find (and killer) side "Why did I go". This Capsoul number (26) usually comes with "In a rut" instead of "Why did I go". I don't know exactly why, but I think this title probably was withdrawn (as the song was also released by the Kool Blues on Capsoul 25 and maybe they didn't want two versions of the track competing against each other) and that it was replaced with the more common release. Either way, it's by far the hardest Four Mints record on the label. It took me years to get a copy, although I have seen it a bunch of times since. "Can't get strung out" is really nice also.

Why did I go:

Can't get strung out:

Bobby Lanz and the Celtics - Accept me for what I am - Master Blaster - strong VG+ - $70

Very obscure and under-the-radar record. This is a White group is from Louisvile, KY. Their two 45s on Bridges show up (although one of them is rarer as stock) but this one is better and rarely comes up for sale. I really like the harmony and mellow feel on this. This copy plays much better than this youtube clip.

Distance - Paradise - Manna of Distance - NM - $70

A relatively unknown recent discovery for most collectors. Nice slightly midtempo sound with really nice strings and other arrangements. The track has a doubled up lead voice with harmony at other points. It could be all one singer on overdub but it's still really nice.

Opus IV - I could tell - Cotillion - NM - $45

Totally excellent track that is only available on the hard-to-find stock copy. This is the same (Detroit?) group that had a record on the Renaissance label. This is my favorite of the four sides, really nice mid-70s Blue Notes styled track. I think this is not well known (at least it isn't on youtube). This track is almost 6 minutes long.

Notations - What more can I say / Leading Lady - VG++, but What more can I say side has an ugly scuff which doesn't affect play - $90

Two excellent sweet soul sides, pretty much in the same vein as their hit "I'm still here", with Clifford Curry singing lead. Their sound didn't change until they went to Gemigo records and the lead of the group changed.

What more can I say:

Leading Lady:

Combination Inc - Love has gone away / People listen (I'm gonna lay my thing) - Arc-lark - VG, lots of light tiny scuffs. Also labels have light ring wear and very light bubbling around the center which gives them less of a "crisp" appearance - $50

Nice detroit 70s group soul (with bass!). Love has gone away is a nice falsetto thing while People listen is Temptations-style group funk. The sweet side is from youtube but the "People listen" side is recorded from this record
