Guest blackbeesoulclub Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Hi, I have just recieved Eddie Parker - I'm Gone AW-502-A / Crying Clown AW-502-B on Awake Records. I need to find out whether this is original or a boot from the 70's? The deadwax has AW502-A also a small half circle stamp with an I' in it, but it's not that visible. Also a triangle103795 on the I'm gone side. On the B side it has AW502-B the same half circle stamp and then the triangle163795-X on the deadwax. Can anybody please help a young collector out? It could be the difference between £30 or £5000... Thanks for all your help in advance. Paul Bailey Black Bee Soul Club
Pete S Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 It's the boot. The number after the triangle tells you it's a 1977 pressing. Well it tells ME that :-)
Guest blackbeesoulclub Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 How do those numbers work Pete? Thanks mate

Prophonics 2029 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Ahh!!!! so it should say ARP in the dead wax.
Guest blackbeesoulclub Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Thanks for all your help guys. Much appreciated. Shame it's not the original. But hey ho, wouldn't sell it anyway. Only paid a few quid for it, but just wanted to check, I realise it's worth about £50.00ish anyway. Cheers KTF

Cheers KTF Well it's worth £50 to Ebay nutcases who have money to burn - it's just a two bob bootleg at the end of the day, £20 - £25 absolute maximum value...by the way, label design is totally different on the original anyway so thats an easy way of telling.
Mick Holdsworth Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Also the opening intro is chopped off by about a second. Strangely, the exact same mastering error appeared on the Hesitations "Soul Superman" CD from the nineties containing "That's What Love Is". Both vocal and instrumental versions were "chopped" identically to this Eddie Parker boot (whereas the orig vinyl LP was fine). Cheers Mick
