Guest Daddy Discatron Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Heard a great single which was for sale on a dealer's site a while ago which I can't remember the name of now! I need your help to try and recall it, as it was just one of those records I HAVE to own. Vocalist was male, had a fairly simple but addictive bluesy guitar/drum riff, and song was exceptionally long for a non-instrumental track at 6-8 minutes. The song's lyrical content focused on "time" or "fate" with a bit of a carpe diem imperative running through it. Know that's pretty vague, but between us I'm sure we might be able to get a good list going of the more interesting northern soul records that don't have romance as the theme.
Soulman Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 How much "time" have you got.......there must be thousands 1
Roburt Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 If you could 'Turn Back The Hands Of Time' you could go back to that dealer's site & actually write the details down.
boba Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 a popular one is frederick hymes - time ain't gonna do me no favors
Codfromderby Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 i had a 12 called times are tight, that was about 6 mins long, not about love, its about being skint, good tune, jimmy jones ?, british thing ?
Guest Matt Male Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 It's the 6-8 minutes long bit that's throwing me.

"carpe diem imperative" que ?
Guest Matt Male Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) "carpe diem imperative" que ? A need to seize the day... time is precious... make the most of it... etc... Actually Time Will Pass You By has that theme. Eight minutes long though and a male vocal? No idea. Edited June 7, 2012 by Matt Male
Simon T Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 i had a 12 called times are tight, that was about 6 mins long, not about love, its about being skint, good tune, jimmy jones ?, british thing ? Try Youtube for Jimmy Young - Times are tight on Delirium records There is another record that 6-8 minutes long called 'Time' by Stone, but that's a synthesizer rift, not guitar.
Codfromderby Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 thats the one ! jimmy young, FFS he must have been over 70 when he made this
Guest Daddy Discatron Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 It's the 6-8 minutes long bit that's throwing me. Yep, that's what gets me too! It was described on the dealer's site as being unusual for that. Really annoying, though at least the suggestions provided so far have given me some new tunes to listen to, though I doubt I'll find this song again. :'(
Guest Daddy Discatron Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 If you could 'Turn Back The Hands Of Time' you could go back to that dealer's site & actually write the details down. I think i copied a youtube link, but then the link stopped working. Happened to me with about 5 songs before i realised i better write the names and titles of sh*t down instead of being an idiot.
