Guest
Don't stop me...I'm on a roll. In my humblest of opinion there are 2 records that over the last couple of years have gained reputations under different banners. Firstly in the RARE category, LOVE SLAVE-THE ANTELLECS and in the HYPED cat. SISTER JAMES-NINO TEMPO. Neither one ever pulls many onto the floor and both are tricky to dance to. Any others? I see the Antellects get some stick on here but whenever I hear this played I see a full floor usually Aadmittedly it's not the best record ever played on the scene but it's far form the worst...IMHO. Now Stister James I'm in complete agreement with you Kev, complete and utter shite...again IMO I'd also put Eddie Bishop Call Me up there with it too. pow wow mik
==== disagree with the antellects.. packed the floor at keele the other week cant comment on sister james I love Antallects, but then I always seem to prefer the quirkier northern tracks though, which are always the ones that divide opinion. IT seemed to go down well at Lifeline. Eddie Bishop gets my vote too. Shite Kenny G version of an already cheesy track, just what the doctor ordered . No disagreeing I have tapes from 73 through to the Close, and the hand clapping stomping drowns out the track every time it was played, like no other, believe me. Who said rare makes it a good record? I hear many records played cause of the rarity rather than the quality. I push the cheaper underplayed as much as anyone. Neither did I say the Antellects is good,. I said it's far from the worst record on the scene and cannot understand why it gets so much stick when you consider some of the dross played. If one came along cheap I take it you wouldn't be interested Link to comment Social source share

jonbuck
The Sharonettes was the biggest tune to bounce the Casino dance floor, and the hand clapping . I find that hard to belive for " Papa Oh Mow Mow " especially if you listen to it now, But I was there from 73, So I know it to be true.... But the Instrumental of The Sharonettes version of "Going To A Go Go" now that was Good, & Still sounds good....Don't forget @ Wigan they Clapped to anything, Maybe it was to make an average tune sound better.... I remember when Billy Butler was on live @ Wigan there was Hand Clapping through most of his performance, I must admit most of it was Slow Handclapping, because he was below average....
