Not heard the Hour Glass thing, I like it! The blurb points to a west coast production but has an extremely beachy south east feel to it, maybe not surprising since the Allman Bros were I believe from Macon, and Georgia is next door to Carolinas!

Is this on 45?

The Hour Glass track is known on the Northern scene and I managed to get a copy of the L.P.

In a recent conversation with one of the Allman brothers it was suggested that that track 'Out Of The Night' appeals to Northern Soul afficionados and he was a bit perplexed to say the least, i can't remember where I read that now? It may have been Greg's 'Hey Baby Days Of Beach Music'???

Yes mate , it was a version of Sam Fletcher , he played it to me the other week.

P.S. 'I'd think it over ' credits W.B. Willingham ?

I thought it was Andy Rix's first? Sam fletcher disc credits JB.

I don't have Sam Fletcher but when I googled it the copies had W B Willingham on , plus I think Andy & Rob sort of share their finds.

Swifty

I bought the JB Willingham "Don't Wanna Be Hurt No More" acetate off Sam many moons ago - I had it for about 8/10 years and sold it on only a couple of years ago. This was a 7" single sided Associated acetate (for what it's worth, the picture on my avatar is said disc).

Cheers

The Hour Glass track was one Rob sourced from Lew Stanley on acetate.

We played it quite a bit covered-up as The Seven Souls - It's Time

The reason for this being that Henry Moore, who co-wrote the song with Robert Welch, also composed 'I Still Love You' & 'I'm No Stranger' that the Seven Souls recorded .. he also wrote a track called 'Seven Souls Theme'.

I got the J.B. Willingham 8" acetate from James in addition to his 'demo' version of 'I'd Think It Over Twice'.

Hi Andy - So that's an 8" - I didn't know about that one !! - Nice

Is it the same take as the 7" I wonder ? (The sound clip in the opening post is exactly the same as the 7" Accociated, at least as far as the soundclip plays)

Cheers

I've seen several of these "R&B" acetates, featuring various artists. Never been quite sure what to make of them.

There are a couple of interesting references on the net.

https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/tams.htm

The Tams discog in the link above has this - "R & B (no #) - Laugh It Off / I've Been Hurt - 1977 (came in a plain white label with red logo lettering with "A '77 Lori Production" and "Dynatone Recording" typed on label - these are alternate versions of earlier charted tracks)"

There is a little more regarding this Tams 45 here - https://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/southernsoul/message/38720
