you might be surpised what got booted in holland as some very common records did.

Why?

Heard too many bad stories from that area, more Belgium than Dutch tho'. I reluctantly buy from anywhere in Europe these days I'm afraid unless I can get the seller verified by someone I know.

Next time I'm out at a night in Amsterdam or anywhere else in the Netherlands, I'll let the chaps over here know your words...

And? So I dont trust many from Europe I don't know, my choice. Most of what I buy are from the UK nowadays.

Ninandy copies are all reissues - came out on BoRo first....

That wouldn't surprise me. I was always seeing this around, especially in some of the bigger second-hand stores and market stalls. It always looked like a pressing and there were loads of 'em around at one time. I always wondered how come there were so many pressed and how come they ended up everywhere......

He doesn't mean reissue as in reissue/pressing/bootleg, he just means that BoRo was the first local label and Ninandy picked it up for wider distribution, it is not a pressing and you'd be well in the money if you'd picked up all the Ninandy copies!

Geography is obviously not your strong point - the UK was definitely in the Europe the last time anyone checked and has been for rather some time.

...but being from a Dutch seller my suspicions would be raised.

I object to your implied sweeping and negative generalisation about the integrity of people living in the Netherlands. Indeed, I object to the negative generalisation of any groups of people - let's not just limit it to the Netherlands. There are bad apples in the barrels of every country, county, city, culture and community. Stereotyping of supposed national/collective characteristics, traits, behaviours, attitudes, etc, etc, is typically offensive and really should be avoided.

Getting back on topic, I have some insight into the seller and will act accordingly.

Is the UK in Europe, really? Of course I know where it is but by Europe I meant mainland Europe and I think you know exactly what I meat. To be honest I wish we were out of the EU but that is another argument.

I know there is bad everywhere but i restrict most of my buying to trusted or known sources/dealers/sellers etc etc. I buy very little from Europe (that place over the Channel) unless I either know the seller or someone I trust can vouch for them. There are plenty of Europeans I do trust but there are many to be avoided. As you say it could possibly have been worded better.

Back on topic. If you can vouch for the seller that is all that needs to be said in this case?

Hi Russell hope your o.k mate , soul records were/are bootlegged all over the place including Britain so i don't think Chalky was singling out the Netherlands in particular.i go to the netherlands regulary and alway's find soul and reggae boot's as i do in England .regards Simon.

I've also seen a few red vinyl Ninandy White demo's from europe and been unsure.

Was there a legit red vinyl??

Cheers

Kev Bod

I'm pretty sure the coloured vinyl 'demo's' are NOT legit

Best bet is to stick to the purple label issue which is a legit release as PS has noted and not been booted to my knowledge

To say it's a reissue as it isn't the first BO RO release would mean a multitude of records suddenly becoming not legit for the same reason ie a larger label distributing.

As for the copy in the ebay link I wouldnt be sure without checking / confirming the deadwax info against the issue..

Greg.

Obviously Ian wasn't the only one to mistake my pedantic tongue-in-cheek sense of humour.

OK. Weird that I've never seen this anywhere but in the UK and it was always cheap as chips. I think it must have been mass imported at some time. What's it worth these days?

ive got a white demo that came from belgium a few years back and im not convinced its authentic .smuged text no stamp marks in the deadwax. and look the wrong plastic for the year. i personally would not sell mine off as an original on here although i paid the going rate £160 for it you can tell when you see it close, id stick with the issue , or the one on jamaican stateside,

Maybe thats what this WD is then, but the blue stamp on it makes it look authentic, or 'old' anyway

p.s. has anyone ever noticed that I've Got To Have Your Love sounds like a slowed down version of The Deadbeats - No Second Chance - the intros are the same

yes its very similar pete, i dont think all the w/ds are fake but you need to have it in your hands to tell, col

I don't think so either as I did pick a couple of white one's up in the States about 20 years ago and I'm totally convinced they were legit.S.

Well, I won the record and received it in the post just before lunch. To me it looks like a boot.

It's pressed on lightweight styrene, there's no stamp in the deadwax and the label text isn't as crisp as some of the w/d's that can be seen on Popsike. The sound quality on both sides however, is great.

By the way, loads of the copies on Popsike appear to be this same pressing. If it is a boot a lot of people have paid a lot of money over the years for it!

I've already been in touch with the seller and he offered me a full refund immediately.

The guy is a general record dealer and doesn't specialise in Northern Soul. He runs a sizeable stall in one the country's largest indoor markets. I've bought from him before, so have no reason to think he's trying to pull a fast one.

He says he bought a small Northern collection recently and this is what he's selling on ebay right now. He's disappointed because what was sold to him as an original may not be at all.

What's interesting is that he tells me that the former owner says he bought all of these, including the Roy Roberts, between the years 1970 and 1978.

Could this have been booted back then?

I thought, though could well be wrong, that this was a Stafford spin so a boot that early would seem unlikely.

They had loads of record before us though Andy, they were dancing to sam Fletcher ten years before we were, and you never know which side of a record they go for, often it's different to the one we would be interested in.

on this one best to go with the vinyl white demo press with the same vinyl as per the purple stock...just to be safe..nice on boro..oh and that jamaican stateside that pete had

Which is exactly why the 'sweet' side was offered up by the seller, not the 'dancer'.
