Ric-tic
you could start a topic about wants too 'wanted cheap as chips' i wouldnt read any further than that, the record probibly is a cheapie but it sounds like youll end up haggling for 3 days Link to comment Social source share
Guest sharmo 1
Surely that would be listed as "Half price or less" then!? Why does something have to be 50% or more below book to be classed as "Priced to sell"? It's generally accepted by market traders that Priced to sell means a bargan price .regards S. NEV
Flip side of this of course is the people buying .. Would you take £20 off a £40 record cos I'm skint Can you do free postage Can you hold it until 3 months Is this still available (2006 list ) I've seen it elsewhere for a lot less but it's sold And last but not least ..how much for a fellow soulsource member ( even though we've never met ) ;( P.s would be interested to know what percentage of moaners about sales have actually ever sold a record on here ? 2 Link to comment Social source share
KevH
Funny how a record in "Wants" is never a stormer, proven rarity, monster or ever anything other than cheap.!!! Link to comment Social source share
Keithw
seems funny that people buying want the record for the cheapest price thats it ever been seen at they want post included - then they say will paypal you later tonight -- and 5 days later you have give them a nudge small dealers like myself and not wanting to name others are up against it at moment we dont buy stuff by container load for a few dollars each , we pay half price often just to get a go at stuff if we bull up stuff to sell its often because we need to sell to eat and pay bills so excuse me if a list a record as - half book price - its because whatever price we put on people in the main wont take notice if you dont get there attention if you put --price is spot on its not a bargain its what i can afford to sell for to make a small mark up Link to comment Social source share
Ernie Andrews
Well Ive just looked at a list and saw a record for sale until I saw the price being 3X what the usual price is! No F++king chance of that selling unless the person is either daft or on drugs! 1 Link to comment Social source share

Spacehopper
dont mind the desriptions as long as theyre right!....what annoys me is when a seller puts up the same list as last week with no mention of it in the title..fine if tunes have been reduced or more added but the same tunes that didnt sell last time at the same prices? dean 1 Link to comment Social source share
Pete S
Have to agree with the use of "Holy Grail", so unoriginal and pathetic really, I see somneone today posting a no centre HMV copy of "Evil One" and describing it as "Holy Grail" - to who? Most people wouldn't touch it without a middle, and even with one it's only worth £125, the actual Holy Grail would be priceless wouldn't it? 2 Link to comment Social source share

I used it myself yesterday for the first time ever when talking about the sad death of Lou Pride. You're right about Frank Wilson, that is exactly what it should describe. boba
I'd call Frank WIlson a total bore of a record Bob But seriously I know what you and Pete mean and agree regarding overuse. It's probably true that in a lot of genres the "holy grail" is an average record that has some history/provenance that makes it super rare and desirable. Like the beatles butcher cover. It's not even that rare, it's just built up a reputation as an important record (and has a backstory that makes it seem super rare) so it's the "grail" for certain kinds of LP collectors. Chalky
I often wonder why pepole use the term holy grail, surely if something is so rare it doesn't need the hype, it will sell itself in this market. If a term like that has to be used it would have to be a record where just the odd copy is known about and not just a popular scene record, IMO of course. Benji
Record sellers can use whatever description, phrase, etc. they want. I can't be bothered. Just don't take it too literally. I mean nobody wants to have "monsters" in his record box? And as the "holy grail" is supposed to be a goblet it wouldn't fit in any of my boxes either. Overpriced records, that really pi**es me off. Guide/Book/Manship prices are usually 200% of the real market value, so where's the point of knocking off 10% from the guide price and calling that "priced to sell"? 1 Link to comment Social source share
Cover-up
While we are in moany fecker mood when you put up a want someone says make me an offer then after you make an offer they decline it. Just tell me the frigging price you want then........ The old "make me an offer, so long as it's higher than what I was going to price it at.." tactic. Class! Ernie Andrews
I Like the term "Only 5 known copies" I love this as I ask - ok whose got them then? That usually causes them a bit of embarrasment! Link to comment Social source share

I wonder whether she was the one that put the sticker of the Nurburgring F1 track on the side of the car. I think it was the most chavvy granny that the world has ever seen would've loved to meet her in person! Link to comment Social source share
